'Bumbling' Georgia man dramatically sets his house on fire in failed attempt to burn BEES out of their nest Georgia home destroyed in fire after the homeowner lit a stick to a bees nest Home's roof had flames through it after man tried to get rid of bees in the gutter The home was mostly destroyed in the Sunday fire
A man's attempt to burn bees out of their nest backfired after the ill-advised extermination method caught fire to a Georgia home, destroying most of it.
Fayette County Deputy Fire Chief Tom Bartlett says the homeowner lit a stick on fire Sunday, then tried to poke the flaming stick up into the bees' nest near the roof to get rid of them.
That set fire to part of the house, with the flames then spreading through the attic and engulfing much of the structure.

Some people must have been dropped on their heads as babies.
Ok. Dumb redneck stunts make the news in Limeyland?
A good way to get rid of bees!
He heard that global warming was killing bees, so he decided to just locally warm his house to accomplish the same thing.
Think globally, act locally!
As a child, my friend and I almost burned down his dad’s garage trying to kill a hill of ants.
Well, it’s a pretty house, and an intractable problem, but in the future, there does not have to always have to be fire where there is smoke.
When you get right down to it, if there’s no house for bees to nest in, it WAS somewhat effective.......
UGA Graduate?
“Hold muh beer.”
SMH.
They used to get the Springer Show in the UK. They think we’re all like this......so it doesn’t matter.
The town is all abuzz over this........
Did he get the bees out of the nest?
Don’t think Billy the Exterminator would recommend doing that, eh?
Was that the house?! Before the fire that house was nice. With a large yard as well. So was Fayette County in south Ga. Or north Ga.? Or somewhere near Macon?
He was too damn cheap to hire an exterminator, that would have cut into his beer budget.
