I’m 100% in favor of pageantry for the troops. That said, don’t understand the military band budget...Reduce it 50%.

At Division, the band is the Tactical Operations Center security element. I imagine it’s true of the Corps and higher, too.

Agree. This put a smile on my face, and little that happens in D.C. does these days.
The various military bands are one way the branches can connect to local neighborhoods in a positive way. One of the U.S. Army bands recently gave a Christmas concert at the church we attend. It was magnificent, and the pews were filled not only with congregants but others who live nearby. It is one way they support each other, the community and the military branch. It could fall under the recruitment rubric.

That’s wonderful—thanks for posting. It’s several years old now, though, so those concert dates at the end are invalid.
All I know is my EOD team and I were in country 17 hours after Saddam invaded Kuwait ...... and the band was already there ?!?!..... :o)
