10:40 AM | Sun quiet again as it heads toward solar minimum
Vencore Weather ^ | October 31, 2016 | Meteorologist Paul Dorian

Posted on 11/02/2016 6:21:42 PM PDT by Paleo Pete

Overview The sun has been completely spotless on 21 days in 2016 and it is currently featuring just one lonely sunspot region. In fact, on June 4th of this year, the sun went completely spotless for the first time since 2011 and that quiet spell lasted for about four days. Sunspot regions then reappeared for the next few weeks on a sporadic basis, but that was followed by several more completely spotless days on the surface of the sun. The increasingly frequent blank sun is a sign that the next solar minimum is approaching and there will be an even greater number of spotless days over the next few years. At first, the blankness will stretch for just a few days at a time, then it’ll continue for weeks at a time, and finally it should last for months at a time when the sunspot cycle reaches its nadir. The next solar minimum phase is expected to take place around 2019 or 2020. The current solar cycle is the 24th since 1755 when extensive recording of solar sunspot activity began and is the weakest in more than a century with the fewest sunspots since cycle 14 peaked in February 1906. One other note, the weak solar cycle and the expectation for continued low solar activity this upcoming winter is an important factor in this year’s colder-than-normal Winter Outlook for the Mid-Atlantic region.

The next Ice Age is overdue.

Too bad The Mann hasn't gotten his legal (Mark Steyn) smackdown yet.

Ok, but CO2 levels are what causes climate change. S/

Huh, unusually quiet sun, devoid of stormy coronal ejections -
Why would Obola issue this “Space Weather” Federal Infrastructure Prep & Recovery Executive Order?
Since when has he cared about the long term well being of our country?...

Preparing the Nation for Space Weather: New Executive Order
October 13, 2016 at 10:00 AM ET by Dr. Tamara Dickinson
Summary:

The Administration takes significant step towards preparing critical infrastructure and technology for the risk of space weather.

Today, President Obama signed an Executive Order that seeks to coordinate efforts to prepare the Nation for space weather events. The Executive Order will help reduce economic loss, save lives, and enhance national security by ordering the creation of nationwide response and recovery plans and procedures that incorporate technologies that mitigate the effects of space-weather events. By this action, the Federal Government will lead by example and help motivate state and local governments, and other nations, to create communities that are more resilient to the hazards of space weather.

The term “space weather” refers to effects on the space environment that arise from emissions from the sun, including solar flares, solar energetic particles, and coronal mass ejections. Space weather is a natural hazard that can significantly affect critical infrastructure essential to the economy, social wellbeing, and national security, such as electrical power, water supply, health care, and transportation.

These emissions can interact with Earth, potentially degrading, disrupting, or damaging the technology that forms the Nation’s backbone of critical infrastructure. Because it poses a significant risk to the Nation’s security, space weather is included in the Department of Homeland Security’s Strategic National Risk Assessment, which outlines threats that pose the greatest risk to the security of the Nation and that, therefore, the Nation must prepare for.

Reducing vulnerability to space weather requires an all-of-nation approach, including collaboration across governments, the emergency-management community, academia, the media, the insurance industry, non-profits, and the private sector. Over the past 6 years, the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) and the National Security Council (NSC) have worked together to coordinate interagency efforts to improve understanding, prediction, and preparedness for potentially devastating space-weather events. These efforts combined the national- and homeland-security enterprise with the science and technology enterprise to create the 2015 National Space Weather Strategy and accompanying Action Plan. Those documents describe how the Federal Government will coordinate the efforts of Federal agencies towards space-weather preparedness, and how the Federal Government will engage academia, the private sector, and State, local, tribal, and foreign governments.

The Executive Order builds on the significant progress of the National Space Weather Strategy and Action Plan by:

Establishing a national policy for space weather;
Establishing an enduring interagency coordination body within the National Science and Technology Council to implement the national space-weather policy;
Articulating department and agency roles and responsibilities with respect to space- weather research, operations, and planning;
Ordering the implementation of necessary, high-level activities that were not included in the Action Plan; and
Reinforcing the need to work with non-Federal entities, including international partners, to achieve national preparedness for space weather.

We cannot ignore the potential impact space weather may have on key infrastructures and technologies. This new Executive Order will strengthen America’s resilience to space weather and help to build a more secure and resilient Nation.

I Hadn’t heard about that XO.

Read through it, sounds good on paper but I’m suspicious...

How much does it cost? Knowing Obama, way too much.

What’s in it for us peons living here on the third rock from the sun? Knowing Obama, nothing.

And a couple of lines tell me it’s another push toward globalism...

<><>By this action, the Federal Government will lead by example and help motivate state and local governments, and other nations, to create communities that are more resilient to the hazards of space weather.

And...

<><>Reinforcing the need to work with non-Federal entities, including international partners, to achieve national preparedness for space weather.

Space weather now??? And here I was thinking it was just solar activity...I guess Obama’s just too smart for little ol me... yeah right...

Many are watching if the Sun could go into another long period of no sunspot activity like the famous Maunder Minimum of 1645 to 1715.

If it happens, it would be disastrous for the human population because it means shorter agricultural seasons at the higher latitudes, which means a major cut in crop production. The result could be wheat being forced to be grown at lower latitudes and likely a lot less production of rice and millet.

That’s exactly what’s being predicted, it’s time for another one.

I’ve watched Dark Winter several times, a good documentary about it.

http://www.newsmaxtv.com/vod/Dark-Winter-DVDmp4/vid/Y3a3B3dDq20KqnLIU2Q8zVBUxzONK0G6/

I’ve already been having trouble getting a good garden the past 2 years, the past 3 winters have been more harsh than usual in the US, someone reported an elk as far south as Virginia (I think that’s where) not long ago, I expect to see other animals migrating further south too, they have instincts.

While Obama and the fools he runs with are doing their global warming alarmist thing, the exact opposite is actually beginning.

Climate change is a reality, but it’s not what Al Gore wants to con you into believing. It’s a normal, natural progression that’s been happening for billions of years, in sync with the fluctuations in solar activity.

Dr Casey explains it much better than I can in Dark Winter.

Your suspicions are Completely warranted when it comes to anything that American-White hating, Marxist-Muslim-DownLo majik kneegrow does.

Internets were abuzz when this XO came out cuz of his end term timing and all the Congressional / Press hype about how vulnerable our Power Grid is to an EMP...

Note: NKorks have a satellite or two possibly nuke armed that orbits right over the CONTUS S to N difficult to detect by our W - N - E oriented radar.

(just getting you folks ready, it’s time to get used to saying President Trump)...

Somebody ping the climate change deniers, I’m sure they’ll want to see this and I don’t know who any of them are.

This proves that even the blind squirrel known as 0bama can occasionally find a nut.

Let’s hope this will help us also prepare for the man-made space weather known as “EMP.”
