Too many women, and too many minorities. The only way you would end up with that sort of "diversity" is if you were creating it deliberately.
I very much liked the movie "The Martian" (despite Matt Damon) but I immediately noticed the characters were all "diverse", and skewed from what they would actually be without political correctness tampering with the selection process.

2033 is 17 years from now, 4 Presidential election cycles. The voyagers will more likely be Chinese that anyone else as the current culture has no interest in hard challenges (ref. JFK)! The last serious candidate to make more than an entry in his platform about efforts in space was Newt and he was totally smeared for it.
As the expanding Federal social support takes larger and larger shares of each tax dollar, the competition between the remaining budget requests like military and (in this instance) NASA becomes fierce for an ever shrinking pot. This is the danger of a continuing expansion of the welfare state that is left unaddressed by current politics.
Truthfully, the *best* way to get to Mars, and to do something once you are there, is to make a deal with the Russians and the Japanese. This is because they excel at some things Americans are not that good with, for various reasons.
To start with, the first mission, and maybe the first few missions, should not be manned. They should be with nuclear powered robots. Specifically, tunneling robots that will dig horizontal habitats, tunnels, and prep them for habitation.
Phase I: Building and fueling a literal “planetary shuttle”, an orbital engine and fuel tank that will take spacecraft from Earth orbit to Mars orbit and back. This will mean the spacecraft just needs enough fuel to take off and land, so can carry much more cargo. The shuttle will be modular and built and fueled in orbit. It will also act as a communications relay station.
Phase II: The first spacecraft will have the nuclear powered tunneling robot, likely built by one of the tunneling machine companies to be able to work on Mars as well as to be nuclear powered. It and its nuclear fuel would be launched by Russia, because of eco-nuts in the US freaking out about it.
Phase III: Once the tunneling robot lander lands on Mars, since it is on a one-way trip, every part of the lander should be multiple use, and include things like pressure doors, reinforcing rod, ceiling, walls and flooring that have electrical, gas and fluid connectors built into them. The remains of the lander should work as a large communications dish.
The tunneling robot finds a vertical cliff face and begins tunneling into it, pushing out the ground up rock as it slowly advances.
Phase IV: The rest of the robots. The Japanese are building quality humanoid style robots that would be ideal for finishing and testing the tunnels. This includes a lot of prep work, as well as pressure and heat retention testing. They could also perform maintenance work on the tunneling robots, as well as rig their nuclear power to provide electricity and heat to the tunnels.
Phase V: The arrival of people, supplies and equipment. Their emphasis from that point is on improving the Mars base with every subsequent mission, including surface facilities.
