I doubt I have to remind everyone that Hollywood's annual orgy of self-congratulation is Sunday (a day of self-worship), or that Hollywood has firmly established itself as an enemy of morality, conservatism, and America. I urge all FReepers to tune out this disgusting spectacle and find something else to do (don't you have a lint trap that needs cleaning?).
I suspect most of you won't watch anyway, but for those who think it's a harmless diversion, please consider that passive acceptance is active support. Do not fall prey to the glitter and allure of the cults of personality. There is hardly anyone in Hollywood worthy of your respect, let alone your admiration. And the few that are are unlikely to be nominated for any of these hollow awards.
This year, with the "controversy" about the Academy's failure to meet their black tokenism quotas, the spectacle promises to be even more repulsive than in the past.
Do not give aid and comfort to our enemies.
I boycott by the fact that I have no idea when they take place, and dont care.

I never watch this self-congratulatory production. Under educated people pretending to be other people for millions of dollars patting themselves on the backs for all of it and delivering their political views disguised as a big thank you. No, thanks.

I will, however, be interested how that fake ghetto, down-with-the-struggle Chris Rock balances his position between all the pissed off blacks and black actors (who get rich off said blacks), and the Hollywood that gives Chris the butter for his bread. Personally, I think he’s sweating bullets right now trying to figure out what to do. Money and fame is a powerful thing. But you need the Hollywood machine behind you for the game and ‘fame’.

Agreed. Haven’t watched them in years. In 2004, I purposely went to go see “The Passion of the Christ” during the annual Oscars airing as an intentional slap to Hollyweird.

So do I have to hook cable back up to accomplish this or can I just keep on ignoring Hollywierd on my principles while still being oblivious and apathetic ?

Our post production is located within mere minutes of Hollywood and Highland. Never watched it either. Plus these clowns block off even residential parking within a 5 block radius creating more traffic..
Can I just watch the “Im Memoriam” section.
I haven’t watched The Oscars in twenty years. Won’t be breaking that streak this weekend. It’s going to be a Leo-love-fest.... and I’m sure he will use the occasion to spout off about global warming.
I haven’t payed any attention to Oscars in 20 years. I couldn’t tell you who won what and really and truly don’t care.
I don’t care if Sira Smiley got an award and Rusty Beaver got an award and Bouncy and her husband Icetray missed out.

The last oscars I watched was in the Bugs Bunny cartoon “What’s Cookin’ Doc?” I was pretty good. (Spoiler: James Cagney won)

The Oscars, the Emmys, the Grammies, and all the other awards shows are not harmless diversion. They’re part of a concentrated effort to trash culture, and turn the population into frenzied zombies who cannot think for themselves or develop an appreciation of cultural excellence.
Exactly. As are most of those "awards", especially the Grammys.
