A woman was forced to leave a plane because passengers were being disrupted by her travelling companion - a pot-bellied pig.
The unidentified individual boarded the US Airways flight to Connecticut with the animal on Wednesday.
She took the creature, said to weigh up to 70 pounds, to her seat and then attached it to her armrest - but when it became disruptive flight attendants asked her to leave the plane.
Jonathan Skolnik, a professor at the University of Massachusetts Amherst told ABC News today he thought the woman was carrying a duffel bag and headed straight for the empty seat next to him.
However he then realized he could smell the animal and noticed it was on a leash.
'The pig was walking back and forth,' he told the station. 'I was terrified, because I was thinking I'm gonna be on the plane with the pig

Hopefully this 70lb pig will end up as a families Christmas dinner and will not be brought on board airplanes anymore
Pigs are favored service animals for people allergic to dogs. Guidelines suggest they are intelligent companions and attuned to dangerous situations.
American Airlines, the parent company of US Airways, said the woman had the pig as an emotional support animal and was asked to leave the plane after it became disruptive.
But is the pig allergic to peanuts and will he freak out if the passenger next to him starts eating some?
Apparently the pig needed an emotional support animal of its own. Maybe a parrot!?
Not allowed- nail files & fingernail clippers.
Allowed- ebola & pot bellied pigs
For a moment there, I thought you were referring to Mrs. BN and me. But I've cleaned up my act and very few call me a "pig" any more.
/s
went driving around he neighborhood looking for it..
and found it being BBQ'd
maybe an urban legand
its just so much mushy nonsense....
Supporting women's emotions is a tough gig, even for a pig. Cut him some slack.
Dunno... airline passengers would appreciate all the muslim repellents they could get.
Better an oink than a kaboom.
“do people ever consider the feelings and physical reactions that other people might have to their “companions”???”
I was on a flight into Canada one time and the lady beside me just whipped out her duffel bag and out comes a small bulldog. The really annoying part is that the dog drooled at every exhale and she had the audacity to say “ I hope he doesn’t bother you..”
"she carried the pig in a duffel bag... said to weigh up to 70 pounds"
and American Airlines, said the woman had the pig as an emotional support animal
If the woman can carry a 70lb duffel bag I think she could take care of herself.
in any case
how did the pig in a duffel bag get through the carry on luggage X-ray....?
society is so insane.....do people ever consider the feelings and physical reactions that other people might have to their “companions”???
No. And I bet that 9 times out of 10 the “emotional support animal” is a ruse to take their pets with them everywhere they go.
I once used a blind assisted dog harness to take my black lab to the movies with me. Alchohol fogged my seeing the obvious flaw in my plan. The theater staff let me in with the dog anyway.
Steven Wright would say that
A few years back, it was the “In” thing in Berkeley for all the homeless people to get “emotional support animals.” Then they would use them when begging....”Can you spare some change so I can feed my dog?” That sort of thing. And, of course, they would bring them inside all the stores and restaurants.
I always felt bad for the dogs, cause I know keeping a dog can be expensive, and there’s no way these people took proper care of their animals. Or so I suspected.
Strange, I was reading the list of things allowed in carry-on luggage today. . . and nail clippers and files are now permitted, as are knitting needles, crochet hooks, and even tool kits with tools such as screwdrivers and pliers less than 7" long and sharp pointed scissors less than 4". Sorry, no knives yet. . . but they're not going to hassle anyone carrying breast milk or infant formula, even if they aren't carrying a baby. One section says no aerosol sprays, even hairspray, but another says hairspray is OK. Not too consistent on that. You'll be glad to know they still prohibit hand grenades, dynamite, and plastic explosives as specifically listed items NOT to pack.
Sorry, I saw no prohibition of potbellied pigs. . . although an argument might be made that it is a container holding more than 3 fluid ounces of a noxious liquid. . . which might be expelled on the carpet of the aircraft.
Was this report written or produced by a machine? The same loose stew of facts and opinions is repeated near four times. And still no names, no stolen shots of a panicky pot-bellied pig in a blanket.
