Maybe they were trying to make it home.

Storms near the great lakes can come pretty fast.

Is it just me — or does it seem odd that the husband is posting about it on Facebook so soon?

Yes, she is an actress which means she has an IQ of about 85 or 86 so cycling during a violent storm is something she would not see as dangerous.

Ya never know the moment of your departure of this place we call home.

At least she was with her husband, of little consolation but..

RIP Molly

A rough month for theater in ChiTown.

I’ve been caught out and barely made it home. And I’ve also wound up taking refuge under a building overhang or a bridge for an hour while conditions moderate. It is just stupid, imo, to ride on slick roads with high winds.

I ride 150 to 200 miles a week, so I have some idea what I’m talking about.

Another theatre actor also died in Chicago on Saturday.

Bernie Yvon was killed when a tractor-trailer ran over his car as he drove to rehearsals.

I’ve done it, not on purpose. Things are nice, storm blows in, you’re an hour and a half from home. Happens to me at least once every July. When you make it home safe it’s an awesome feeling, fighting the hard odds.

I was about two hours out once when a godawful storm blew in. Rode a couple blocks to the bus station and put the bike in the rack on the front of the bus to get home.

Lightning aside, it just isn’t worth the risk. Also tends to really bugger up your gears and such. At least in my experience.

What seems odd is there’s a fund for the family. One would think they were well off so wouldn’t need the money and there would be a charity fund instead.

It’s hard enough to see another car in the rain, much less somone on a bike in a violent storm. If it hadn’t been a tree, it would have been a car. Bad decision making to not pull over and wait the violent storm out.

Can’t say I’ve heard of her or Yvon. RIP.

Why would one think this particular actress was well off? Who was the husband, did I miss that?

Our bike trail doesn’t really intersect the bus system very well. It does hit a hub, but that hub is like 3 miles from home. Which kind of puts you into more of a “tough it out” mode. This year’s July storm I got to see it coming in to kick my butt. Tucson storms blow in from the south east, I’d ridden way up to the top of Marana (north west of home), turned around and said “oh”, just a nasty storm on the horizon. Got about halfway home before we met. No lightning in that one, I’ll hide from lightning. Just rain, lots of rain, and wind though mostly our wind precedes the rain. By the time I got home I think my shirt alone weighed 10 pounds. I think I spent more miles in the rain on that one than all previous rides combined. Didn’t need a shower though.

Last year the wind was hitting so hard I could hear it whistling through my spokes, that one sucked. A couple years before that the rain was hitting so hard I couldn’t see my tire, luckily I know the path and that I was 2 minutes from shelter so I could hide from that one. Everybody’s gotta make their call, sometimes you bet wrong. So far so good for me.

Maybe its different among actors vs actresses, but James Woods scored a perfect 800 on the verbal SAT and a 779 on the math portion. Its said he has an IQ of 180.
