I’ve done it, not on purpose. Things are nice, storm blows in, you’re an hour and a half from home. Happens to me at least once every July. When you make it home safe it’s an awesome feeling, fighting the hard odds.

I was about two hours out once when a godawful storm blew in. Rode a couple blocks to the bus station and put the bike in the rack on the front of the bus to get home.

Lightning aside, it just isn’t worth the risk. Also tends to really bugger up your gears and such. At least in my experience.

Darn right. Florida lightening storms can come up very fast. Sunny at your home 8 miles down the road a downpour with big bolts coming down everywhere!
