Alec Baldwin arrested and handcuffed by police in New York… after riding his bike the wrong way

Alec Baldwin has been arrested.

The volatile actor was handcuffed by police officers in New York on Tuesday and taken away in a cop car, according to In Touch with one witness telling the publication Baldwin 'went ballistic on the cops, screaming at them' during the incident which led to his arrest.

TMZ reports he was stopped by police for cycling his bike the wrong way down Fifth Avenue and one of the reasons he was arrested was because he did not have any identification on him.

By the time he was cuffed he was 'calm and quiet', another onlooker told In Touch.

A source with the New York Police Department told the publication: 'The incident just happened, we are waiting for details at this time.'

He was alone at the time of the incident and is reported to have been cycling for exercise.

In the pictures, obtained by In Touch, he can be seen wearing shorts, a jacket and a visor as he is led into the car by a female police officer.

Another officer stands nearby.

He appears calm and collected in the pictures as he is being led away while his bike can be seen propped up against the car.

Alec has faced controversy in the past few years for repeatedly being accused of using homophobic slurs.

Couldn’t they just tell him to go to the other side of the street? Sheesh! (If that part is one way, suggest a different route)

He must have thought he had left the country as he promised to do.

Yeah. He thought perhaps in was in England where he would have been going the right way.

No fan of Alec Baldwin, but one would think with all the crime going down in NYC, the NYPD would have more important things to do then using two cops to effect an arrest for going the wrong way on a bicycle. Many don’t carry ID while bicycling, and a ticket in lieu of arrest would have served the purpose.

They probably did but I don't think you can "tell" this a-hole anything without getting into it. I'm sure he was arrested for his disturbed behavior, not for riding his bike the wrong way.

They asked for ID. Unless they wanted to get him on the "wrong direction" citation, what do they need ID for? If he doesn't have it, but says he Alec Baldwin, because he IS Alec Baldwin, and not to get special treatment, I'm okay with that.

Hold him down and empty a canister of pepper spray down his throat. Stops screaming pronto and will make him think twice before ever screaming at you again.

Can't stand leftists screaming and since dueling is illegal, we need a way to bring civility back to everyday discourse.

..one of the reasons he was arrested was because he did not have any identification on him.

Baldwin is a jackass, but seriously, not have any identification on him is cause for arrest?

Is this accurate? Your papers please!

...and when police stopped to give him a summons, he grew angry.

Baldwin was not carrying ID, the source said. When police are handing out a summons to someone who has no ID, they bring the person to the police station.

NYC is a sanctuary city, is it not? I thought the police were prohibited from asking for id. You know - so the illegals will feel...American.

Isn’t this racism to ask for id from AB?

I wonder if it is now Alec Baldwin open season in NYC.
I would suggest he move to city that is a little more tolerant. Dallas? Worked for Beck. Palm Beach? Worked for Rush.

With no ID how do they know it's the same person they have a summons for?

But how can you ticket someone who has no ID, and could thus offer just about any fictitious name and false address?

Not a warrant, but writing a ticket for breaking a law. It is a summons to appear in court at a later date, if you don’t want to pay the fine.

Judging by my own experience(s) with the NYPD and from reports recounted to me by others the only way an incident like this would get one arrested is if you decided to be an @$$h0le with them. If one is polite when questioned by NYPD and co-operates with them you will not have “problems”.

Unfortunately Arec Barwin just doesn’t seem to have that ability too be respectful, polite and co-operative. Plain speaking .... HE’s an IDIOT!
