French President François Hollande hailed “a new industrial revolution” in inaugurating Friday a new lithium battery plant built by the Bolloré group, which manufactures the Bluecar made popular by France’s electric-car sharing scheme. …

Earlier in the day, as he attended an environmental conference in Paris, Hollande vowed to halve energy consumption in France by 2050 and cut fossil fuels by 30% by 2030. The French president has also made electric cars “a priority.” …

I’ve examined the minimum usage in my crib and find that 4 kWh/day is the base load (refrigerator, misc., and computers/network).

well there are those pesky phones...and computers...and cameras?

the researchers at the University of Illinois...who claim they have discovered a way to decrease the charge time of lithium Ion Batteries to 1 1/1000 of their current charge time.....may have discovered something worthwhile in the long run.

Gas and Oil will of course still be necessary to do the heavy lifting

Why wait until 2050?

If he really believes as he says he would artificially restrict the output of France’s power plants to 50% of current levels.
