The kittens kept MTA officers busy and riders hanging in Brooklyn.
A major crisis was averted in the subway Thursday on the fe-line.
Two skittish kittens, who have been named Arthur and August, were rescued by a pair of cops and an MTA worker in Brooklyn after their precarious presence near the third rail shut down service for about two hours and shook up the city’s usually stoic straphangers.

Meanwhile, former MTA chief and GOP mayoral candidate Joe Lhota has
said that he would never have shut down the subway over the kittens.
FWICS, most liberals would have been fine with the kittens frying on the third rail, incidentally. That is the vibe from a number of railroad-themed message boards.

There are probably dozens of ferals within a mile.
Most communities that have guttering systems also have ferals. I see heads peeking out of curb drains occasionally in my small town of 14k.

I see heads peeking out of curb drains occasionally in my small town of 14k.Are you sure they're cats? In our town of 20K people, the inhabitants of the storm drains are groundhogs. I've seen them climbing in and out.
