'Something unexpected' is happening on the Sun, Nasa has warned. This year was supposed to be the year of 'solar maximum,' the peak of the 11-year sunspot cycle. But as this image reveals, solar activity is relatively low.

We will know in about another 6 months. Either the cycle will trend up into a second peak, or it will continue to trend down.

If it trends down, then we will be in a Dalton-type minimum. In that case, expect colder weather, crop failures, higher food prices, and famine.

NASA warns us that something unexpected is happening on the Sun?

Warns???

Mankind has only been scientifically studying the Sun for 2 one-millionths of one percent of its existence, if that. Its pure hubris to think it will never do anything we haven't seen before -- but if it does, to issue a "warning" that it's not behaving properly, thereby potentially alarming the whole world.

However, scientists are more careful than that and I'd wager NASA spokesmen never used the word 'warning,' or any synonym for warning. Just more sloppy reporting by alarmist media types.
