The black dot on his nose and his white-socked paws do not single out Frankie as a particularly remarkable cat.
So it must be his charm that has led this moggy into the centre of a bitter tug-of-love which ended in a courtroom drama and left one family £20,000 worse off.
The extraordinary row, which has set two lifetime animal lovers against each other, began last year when Rosalind Mahoney handed over Frankie to June Allan on what she thought was a temporary basis

Lessons learned, don’t foster out your pets and find a rental that allows pets. Still, that’s pretty cr@appy of the old woman and the judge.

Cats really take to little old ladies. I picked up a cat at the pound who was given up by a little old lady because she couldn’t take care of him. He was very affectionate and we bonded quickly. However, when my mother came over to visit, he was all over her and ignored me, and she doesn’t particularly like cats.
I think the old lady should have given the cat back to its rightful owner, there has to be countless full grown cats that need homes and it would only take a few days to have a new cat friend again.

My mom became ill and she and her beautiful Maine Coon moved in with us. For the remaining 12 years of her life, she and the cat were inseparable companions. Cat would sit under my mom’s chair in the dining room to accept treats, secretly dropped for her. Well, mom passed away, and cat remained with us. We lavished her with attention, special treats, and kept the cat’s favorite blanket on mom’s bed in her empty room. Within a month, I found the cat dead, under mom’s chair in the dining room. I believe she died of a broken heart.
I feel sorry for all the parties involved. I don’t believe the judge was particularly a cat-lover.

The comments there are quite revealing since most are in favor of the old hag keeping the cat. From what I've read on line, Brits don't seem as attached to their cats as we do here as evidenced by how they allow them to freely roam the neighborhoods......
There was a thread here recently of a mailman who created a blog with photos of all the cats he typically encounters on his mail routes.....over 50

It's not unusual. I remember a court case where an ex-gf entered her ex-bf's home while he was gone,
stole his dog and disappeared...after months of looking for her, he finally tracked her down and she refused to return the dog.
The case ended up in court and the judge said it was in the best interests of the dog that it not be torn away from his new family. She (the ex-gf) was never charged with burglary, theft, or even forced to compensate the victim monetarily for the loss of his dog.
