Supplementing a bolt action Ruger American Rifle in .308, looking to acquire an AR-10 for hunting, range time, etc. Researching manufacturers such as DPMS, Bushmaster, Armalite, but of course in CT there are unconstitutional limitations on models that can be sold.
Your input/suggestions (”Banglist” ping) welcome here.
You might want to check out the Springfield M1A SOCOM. It has a flat top receiver with rails so you can mount a scout scope on it along with lots of other goodies. .308 cal. Very accurate right out of the box. Kinda pricey though.
Not an AR-10, but FN-FAL and other weapons that might trip your trigger.
It has a gas piston instead of a direct impingement system, which I personally prefer.
I'd give you the direct link, but I am behind a firewall.
Side question - Is anyone making a AR-06 lower? Specifically an AR lower that will handle the length of a 30-06? Ideally, I’d like an AR in .35 Whelen. I assume I can get a custom barrel for the upper. Not so sure about the lower. Can’t seem to find much on the web.
I have owned a DPMS in 7.62 NATO for about three years and it is the finest black gun that I own. It has very little recoil... just a bit more that the 5.56 and very little muzzle rise (maybe 2 inches). It will shoot quarter sized groups at 100 yards without special loads. It likes to run wet and has gobbled up every bit of ammo that I have fed to it. If you want a 7.62 NATO semi... this is the weapon that I recommend.

Yeah, am thinking about the Springfield M1 as well, but like the “M-16” feel of the AR-10.
You can’t go wrong with a Stag. I got one not too long ago at Jo-Jo’s Gun Works in Southington.
Likely that the FN-FAL is not “compliant” in CT, but I’ll inquire. Thanks!
Don’t kill the opposition. Wound them and let them suffer.
A dead man is just a dead man.
A wounded man required medics, transport via ambulance and medical staff.
_ Another thing..... Democrats hate and FEAR guns and once wounded are not going to fight. They will only try and get others to do the fighting for them.
The US military won’t stand for that for long. They will desert, retire and join together and support us.
The trouble is that VERY few people in this country have any spine left so none of this is relevant anyway.
Learn to live under a Dictatorship and shut the fuc* up.
Is that Stag in .308 or 5.56? I’m looking for .308.
The Armalite AR10 more stopping power than the feeble 5.56, thats what the AR stands for. Mine goes bang everytime I pull the trigger, have put many thousands of rounds through it.The AR platform was originally designed by Eugene Stoner for the 308 round.
The Armalite shoots really well, and with the new 25 round mags, it represents a significant defense asset.
Another vote for the DPMS LR-308 series. Whether you get the Scout Sniper trim or the shorty AP4 model... I’ve heard nothing but good things about them. Price, quality, and accuracy.
Also have the DPMS. Great fire arm. Powerful, accurate and reliable. Hearing good things about the kel tec bull pup.
I’m a Saiga guy...even in .308.
I shoot lefty and it's great that brass doesn't fly in my face any more. It sucks in CT, though....The adjustable stocks are illegal. For my .308, I have a Saiga with a BIG bang. LOL
I started as a G3/CETME guy... I’ll suggest a PTR91, cheaper, MUCH cheaper mags and about the same accuracy.
The new VEPRs are another option and now have steel 20 round mags available. They are not quite as accurate, but very reliable.
Disclosure, my favorite .308 is a Galil...
