Truly cool! Mars Curiosity rover snapped a bunch of pics while Phobos eclipsed the sun!

Ping...
Thank you for posting that!
...and thank for the direct link!
The video at your link says “Opportunity” and gives a date of November 9, 2010.
cool, too bad its only simulated
Done in Arizona at the same sound stage they did the Moon landing.
The text at Discover says Curiosity.... dude, it’s still neat, and I’m too damn old to argue with ya...
Ping
I blame Bush. lol.
The still shot was by Curiosity on 9/13/12 and the video was by Opportunity on November 2010.
If it happens again, we can send those Twilight guys there.
We still won’t know for sure if there’s life, but will know there is gay undead...
Everybody knows there are no vampires in outer space! The sun's out all the time.

No need to argue. Click on the link, and hit pause on the text. It’s not rocket science.
And by the way - don’t trust the media. They lie.
It’s pretty kewl. Authur C. Clarke wrote a short story about an expedition that set out to Mars to record the transit of the earth across the face of the sun (as viewed from the surface of Mars) based on an actual transit of the earth on May 2, 1984. A transit of earth is fascinating because it’s a two-fer, the moon transit at the same time. Clarke’s story was based on a calculation published by Jan Meeus.

I’m wondering if there is some infighting going on between the Opportunity flight control group and the Curiosity group...
Maybe we’ll get to see the first interplanetary Robotic Ultimate Cage Fight!
Curiosity is younger and bigger, but Opportunity is one scruffy little robot!
Of course, seeing a Martian solar eclipse directly through the technological wherewithal inherent in Curiosity is a greater milestone in scientific exploration then merely witnessing the shadows created as a result.
