Along Duluth roadside, road-striping crew delivers a final insult
At least one Howard Gnesen Road traveler said she wishes someone on the road crew had taken the time to clear the way before the striping truck came through this week.
At least one Howard Gnesen Road traveler said she wishes someone on the road crew had taken the time to clear the way before the striping truck came through this week.
Patty Donaldson of Gnesen Township said shed seen the dead raccoon in the roadway near South Road, north of Arrowhead Road, since early this week. She said shes been known to stop and gingerly pull a dead skunk off the road, but she didnt dare stop at this spot so near a curve and with only a narrow shoulder to pull onto.
That would have been a good job for someone on a road crew with a pickup and flashing lights, she said.
Id think the foreman on that patrol should have looked through there for obstructions before they paint the road, she said.
But no one moved the animal and the striping truck couldnt be expected to stop mid-stripe. So now theres a striped raccoon in the road.
Donaldson, 60, said she was disappointed to see it.
Were all Gods creatures, she said. For somebody to leave an animal lay like that and not move it over
we have to have some sensitivity in this world.

When you've broken your leg there aren't many things that will coax you from your car to hobble down the road. But when 15-year-old Danielle Sauve cruised past this dead raccoon, plastered to a Minnesota roadside, she couldn't resist snapping a photograph. The slain animal met its unfortunate end when a highway painting truck crew failed to spot it and drove their truck over its body, dousing it with white emulsion.
Now it looks like a big skunk!

OWNED.
So, do you think it looks like a big skunk?
I can’t believe that girl is standing there looking at it. Hope for her sake it was a fresh kill. Oh the stench.
you know the striping crew knew they did it
If Larry & Darryls) had seen it, it would have made the lunch menu at the Minuteman Cafe.
So...now does it look like a big skunk?
It's amazing how so many people are insulated from the realities of nature. I once dated a woman who thought dead animals in the woods were disposed of by city workers and refused to believe me when I told her that most of them were eaten by other critters.
And it looks like a big skunk, too!
Don't worry Honey!...Under Obamas stimulus plan they'll be 10,000 trucks and 30,000 "diverse" union workers (3 per truck)....ALL SHOVEL READY!

Seriously though, one would think people could find something in this crazy, mixed up world that’s important enough to worry about.
If roadkill bothers this chick that bad, she can take her happy ass out there and dispose of it.
It is sort of like a new sport.
I saw a similarly painted roadkill possum on US-62 just west of Bardstown last week. Unfortunately, there weren’t any good places to pull over and traffic was pretty heavy, so I had to pass on taking a picture.
