For many people, the word eating challenge evokes the iconic scene in the movie "The Great Outdoors,"when John Candy tackles "The Old 96er" to the chagrin of his digestive tract. More recently, the Travel Channel's "Man vs. Food" show has popularized eating challenges, which have increasingly become a strategy for restaurants across the country to make a name for themselves, draw in new customers, and simply have fun. For those testing their fortitude through eating challenges, clearing a plate of outrageously large or spicy meals will often win them a T-shirt, their photo on the wall, and dinner on the house. There are some challenges, however, that push the limits of consumption and no individual has yet to cross the proverbial finish line. .....

That might be doable.
The chicken fried steak is 10 lbs and you have to finish 4 pounds of mashed potatoes too. hhhhmmmmm....
If you can’t finish, its $70....
You could plan your day around it, bring sponsors to help defray the price of losing, tell them the entertainment value is worth it. :P
That is beyond sick. I hope these places have the decency to accomodate guests with a vomitorium like the Romans had at their banquets. This is just like selling drugs; is there any question about why we’re a nation drowning in our fat?
Sniff. Gluttony is a cardinal sin.

Our World-Famous FREE 72oz. STEAK DINNER (if eaten in 1 hour) is only for the very hungry.
Many have tried. Many have failed.
How the FREE 72oz STEAK DINNER legend was BORN...
The FREE 72-oz. steak came to life not long after Bob Lee opened the doors to the Big Texan Steak Ranch. In those days, cowboys still worked the area ranches and came into town on their days off to get a good meal and have some fun. Both of those needs could be fulfilled at the Big Texan. One day a cowboy came through the front door bragging that he was so hungry he could eat the whole, darned cow.
Bob grinned as he put the first one-pound steak on the grill and the contest was on. When the cowboy finally yelled, calf-rope he had consumed 4½ pounds of tasty Texas beef. Bob vowed from that day forward the dinner would be served free to anyone who could complete it in one hour.
Since then, 10’s of thousands people from around the world have traveled to Amarillo and attempted to eat the specially cut 72-oz. top sirloin steak, a baked potato, salad, dinner roll and shrimp cocktail. Some have succeeded in completing the feat and joining the ranks of BigTexan champions. Many have failed.
The Live WEB CAMs are in the Main Dining Room. CAM #1 is focused on the stage where the Contestants are served their 72oz. Steak Dinner. The timers that count down the hour are above the table. Cam#2 is a Live overhead view of the table.

That might be doable.
10 lbs of steak and 4 lbs of taters? NO WAY!
The link refers to challenges that have yet to be won.
heh
These things are usually bought by groups of people, not one person.
Maybe, but there was a link a week or so back that focussed on a restaurant that featured a 5 lb. burger with a sack of french fried potatoes. It noted that the morbidly obese liked this place quite a bit. IIRC, the name was ‘The Heart Attack Grill’ or something similar. Likewise, in the midwest, the ‘all-you-can-eat- joints are packed with thousands of pounds of addiction driven flesh looking for the day’s 5,000 calories. Actually, I pity these people and the sickness that has overtaken this once lean and productive nation.
Grandma's K&I Diner Albuquerque has the "Travis" named after a customer that always complained about the size of the portions until they tried to put him away once and for all. It is a ground beef and bean burrito smothered in fries.
What you see before you is a 1/4 Travis.
The founder of the Heart Attack Grill died a little while back didn’t he? from a heart attack I think.
So is paying $70 for a meal. :-)
goodness grief
bump to that.
If I tried to eat that monster, I’d need sponsors. lol.
From the restaurant website.
I think CougarGA7 got through one, or most of the way. I tried the 1/4, and felt like I had a ‘56 DeSoto in my stomach for a week.
I bet that was painful.
lol
That’s a lot of fries.
Passing the tailfins was the worst part.
