It seems like everyday you can turn on Sportscenter or visit ESPN.com and learn about athletes such as Michael Vick's legal problems. Ben Roethlisberger sexually assaulting a college girl in a bar restroom. Stories about Rick Pitino and his mistress. Or in today's top stories, you can read about how Lance Armstrong's teammates allege that he was doping.

When something IS NOT reported, it often reveals quite a bit about those doing the reporting.
Is ESPN in the business of sports reporting, or promotion?
There’s been lots of discussion about ESPN’s Lebron James event over on the “journalism” blogs. Talk that they ‘soiled’ the reputation of the profession.
As if there was any reputation left, for anyone paying attention. Rathergate, the Journolistas shilling for Obama, 60 Minutes on Audi in the 80s, NBC on GM fuel tanks in the 90s, the list goes on and on, and not just regarding politics. The "profession" is full of whores who will say and do anything to make a buck and/or push their agenda, Truth be damned.
"I was taught when I was a young reporter that it's news when we say it is. I think that's still true -- it's news when 'we' say it is. It's just who 'we' is has changed"
David Carr (b. 1956). US Journalist, NY Times Reporter. CNN "Reliable Sources", Sunday, August 10, 2008.
Continuing to spread? Interesting choice of words.
Saw this article in the New York Post yesterday. Jenn was pretty adamant about what had happened.
I’m with you, and I’m a lifelong Packer fan.
You can see this in action when watch the live editions of SportsCenter or listen to an ESPN Radio talk show--the hosts will often say that the breaking story has confirmation from multiple sources.
On this matter, some of you will instantly believe the woman because you want to. In fact, you have to. You've had longstanding devil horns drawn on the man that you have to color dark red. Doesn't matter that what she says is completely inconsistent with his character. You want to believe. Favre is bad. You knew it all along.
For two years, Packer fans on the message boards have alternated between refusing to acknowledge his existence and accomplishments at all and wishing injuries on him and plagues on his family. It has been ugly. When Minnesota beat the Packers twice, it was this; it was that; anything but Favre getting credit. Then these folks quickly went back to acting like Green Bay won both games. That's a stubborn bunch of cheesers up there, and I'm from Sheboygan.
I can't defend the drama queen crap and the retirement flip flops each August. But that's an idiosyncrasy. I'm an old man and I certainly understand why he doesn't want to go to training camp at his age.
But I have also been accused of sexual harassment in the workplace over a decade ago. My accuser even told me she was going to “get me” before she did it. Didn't matter. I had to fight for my life. Funny thing. Most men didn't believe me. Most women did. I was exonerated at the first level of investigation. Some people believed I was guilty anyway. I still have the scars.
You guys calling this gal by her first name don't know her from squat. She's a Jet sideline reporter with a webpage and a desire to move up. She may be a very nice young lady. I wouldn't say otherwise. But she also may be a golddigger. Time will tell. Bottom line is I've been watching Favre for twenty years. I will continue to support the man until I see a reason not to.
Favre is famous and therefore a target. He is fair game. I don't buy any of it yet. If I'm wrong I'm wrong. But it perfectly fits a template from the Packer's perspective, which saw Nick Barnett indirectly comparing Favre to Jeffrey Dahmer and Saddam Hussein this week.
Have a party, Wisconsin. Repeat after me. “Ted Thompson is good. Aaron Rodgers is great. Brett Favre is bad. Green Bay beat Minnesota twice last year. Boolah boolah boolah.”
As one PACKER BACKER to another, I can smile when I say: “He’s Minnesoda’s problem, now.”
“We will NEVER forget you, Brent!”
Favre is the whore of ESPN like Obama is for the mainstream media. I can’t believe the reporter didn’t print it.
If this is proven true, would that be “a reason not to”?
Right on the money. Every year it becomes more apparent the Packers knew what they were doing when they decided to cut that spoiled brat loose. Thank God we didn’t let him jerk us around while Aaron Rodgers went elsewhere.
Maybe some day I'll be able to have fond feelings of Brent. Right now, he is still DTM (dead to me).
Isn’t that the truth!?!
I really do like our chances for this season. Things seem to be falling into place, quite nicely.
GO!! PACK!! GO!!
Man, I’m tired of our being a gossip-driven society.
Entertainment Sports Programming Network.
They are in the business of entertaining, that is why it comes first in their name.
I like how the article says “whether the story is true or not, it is still news.”
ESPN has been too busy with their lips wrapped around his member to report a story of him sending pictures of it.
