I’m with you, and I’m a lifelong Packer fan.

I'm a Favre guy. Most Packer fans I know hate him with venomous passion. I love the man because of many things that he did in Green Bay including overcoming drug addiction and alcoholism, never missing a game, playing in times of immense family tragedy, and resurrecting my team from 25 years of complete death.

On this matter, some of you will instantly believe the woman because you want to. In fact, you have to. You've had longstanding devil horns drawn on the man that you have to color dark red. Doesn't matter that what she says is completely inconsistent with his character. You want to believe. Favre is bad. You knew it all along.

For two years, Packer fans on the message boards have alternated between refusing to acknowledge his existence and accomplishments at all and wishing injuries on him and plagues on his family. It has been ugly. When Minnesota beat the Packers twice, it was this; it was that; anything but Favre getting credit. Then these folks quickly went back to acting like Green Bay won both games. That's a stubborn bunch of cheesers up there, and I'm from Sheboygan.

I can't defend the drama queen crap and the retirement flip flops each August. But that's an idiosyncrasy. I'm an old man and I certainly understand why he doesn't want to go to training camp at his age.

But I have also been accused of sexual harassment in the workplace over a decade ago. My accuser even told me she was going to “get me” before she did it. Didn't matter. I had to fight for my life. Funny thing. Most men didn't believe me. Most women did. I was exonerated at the first level of investigation. Some people believed I was guilty anyway. I still have the scars.

You guys calling this gal by her first name don't know her from squat. She's a Jet sideline reporter with a webpage and a desire to move up. She may be a very nice young lady. I wouldn't say otherwise. But she also may be a golddigger. Time will tell. Bottom line is I've been watching Favre for twenty years. I will continue to support the man until I see a reason not to.

Favre is famous and therefore a target. He is fair game. I don't buy any of it yet. If I'm wrong I'm wrong. But it perfectly fits a template from the Packer's perspective, which saw Nick Barnett indirectly comparing Favre to Jeffrey Dahmer and Saddam Hussein this week.

Have a party, Wisconsin. Repeat after me. “Ted Thompson is good. Aaron Rodgers is great. Brett Favre is bad. Green Bay beat Minnesota twice last year. Boolah boolah boolah.”

As one PACKER BACKER to another, I can smile when I say: “He’s Minnesoda’s problem, now.”

“We will NEVER forget you, Brent!”
