The most ballyhooed effort is under way in Texas, where conservatives have pushed the state school board to rewrite guidelines...challenging the idea that the Founding Fathers wanted to separate church and state.
In articles and speeches, on radio and TV, conservatives are working to redefine major turning points and influential figures in American history, often to slam liberals...
Joe McCarthy? Liberals lied about him. He was a hero.
"We are adding balance," Texas school board member Don McLeroy said. "History has already been skewed. Academia is skewed too far to the left."

This appeared in my local, small town newspaper as "Right-wingers ignore facts as they rewrite history".
"WOW! What a bunch of bull" -- I thought to myself.
So, not one to keep revolting subjects to herself, I tracked the article down to McClatchy and posted it on Free Republic. Be sure and read the entire article for the full left-wing propaganda treatment; the liberals are trying to make Americans look victimized by Conservatives.
If it’s McClatchy, it’s Commie. I see the name McClatchy on anything, and skip reading it. It’s auto-commie in my book.
This same article appeared in today’s Lima(Ohio) News. A bunch of crap...according to the article FDR was the greatest president ever.
Newsweek also has a problem in that their most recent edition appears to have materials written before the event.
Some of the 20,000 or so Tea Party attendees that day should sue McClatchy and Newsweek for lying about them.
I always ask liberals to show me where it says “separation of church and state”. I’ve yet to find a liberal that can show me that line.
“Some of the 20,000 or so Tea Party attendees that day should sue McClatchy and Newsweek for lying about them.”
You think so? Maybe in a class action lawsuit for slander; sounds doable to me.
I wouldn’t wipe my a$$ with any fishwrap that ran a McClatchey story.
It would be an insult to my a$$!!
You can certify a class if you want, but I think 20,000 individuals signed on to the exact same lawsuit as litigants would do pretty much the same thing.
...the mcClatchey chain of newspapers is little more than a Lefty mouth piece...the good news is that they are losing money like crazy...the bad news is that a lot of innocent employees are losing their jobs due to the editors Lefty slant.
There's only one Lefty voice I'll listen to. And that's Lefty Frizzell!
Anytime local papers run McClatchy articles they should be challenged. This so-called ‘news’ outfit is nothing more then progressive propaganda. We need to fight to get them stopped. Anything they print is a lie or exaggeration .
“The most ballyhooed effort is under way in Texas, where conservatives have pushed the state school board to rewrite guidelines...”
FIRST SENTENCE AND THERE IS A LIE THERE ALREADY!!!
Look - the Texas SBOE is charged with updating the curriculum standards. No ‘conservative’ pushed anything. The SBOE delegated this legally required update to a review board... but the review board made changes that were TOO FAR TO THE LEFT, so the ELECTED SBOE decided to fix some of those changes ... the end result was a compromise that included the review board recommendations with modifications.
some things fixed:
- like the review board was going to take out Christmas as a well-known religious holiday (while putting in Dawali ... wtf??)
- like erasing early Texas history (missions, spanish etc)
- taking out Albert Einstein while stuffing in a number of ethnic/women tokens
etc.
The SBOE *FIXED* these problems ... and the Liberals went ballistic... WHY? Because the SBOE represents the people and not the liberal elite academics.
SO THEY HAVE TO SMEAR AND LIE ABOUT THE SBOE TO CONVINCE PEOPLE SOMETHING BAD IS HAPPENING. IT IS NOT. SOMETHING GOOD HAPPENED: THE LIBERALS WERE CAUGHT IN THE ACT OF TRYING TO UNDERMINE EDUCATION AND WERE CALLED ON IT BY CONSERVATIVE ELECTED OFFICIALS.
Mr Thomas is the one “rewriting History”.
