I'm currently in the process of relocating from Northeastern Vermont to Colorado (leaving a blue state for a red state - woo-hoo!). Very unfortunately, I can't bring all of my pets with me. I've contacted the local shelters, but was told that because neither of them are super young, they would have a great deal of trouble placing them, and since I wouldn't want to have them actually IN the shelter, I'm not willing to go that route. I also tried an on-line classifieds site (petfinder.org), but got some really kooky e-mails, so I took that ad down. I'm hoping FReepers will be more helpful!
About the cats: both are spayed females, completely up to date on their shots. They are both indoor only cats.
Cleo is an older Siamese mix, approaching eleven years old. She was declawed by people who had her before me. She is timid in new situations and with new people, but very, very affectionate once she's comfortable...her favorite bid for attention is a running head butt. ;-) She's my main FReeping companion - stays stationed near the computer. I suspect she may FReep when I'm out of the house, but I have no proof...
Halvah is a five year old Himalayan/Siamese cross. She has a very soft, short coat. Best of both breeds, really! She's very friendly and a little chatty - a testament to her Siamese ancestry. She's not at all shy.
Some pictures the ones of Halvah in particular aren't great because when she's awake, she rubs against my legs if I try to get near her with the camera. Doesn't sit still! ;-) And when she's asleep, her eyes are closed. Grrr...

That would be Meek One... I'll ping him... those sure are pretty kitties...NOT a ZOT, folks! Just pingin' here in case someone wants to help RC find a home for her kitties.

Awwwww...
They're beautiful...
I wish I could!
MY two are always fighting with each other...
They'd never put up with two more!
Ms.B
Friday bump.
Y'all know the drill.
Ping... have you pinged your kitty lover lists to this FReeper's plight yet?
What area of Colorado are you moving to? I live in Southwestern Colorado, in Cortez...are you going to be close to there?
Also...did you find a home for them yet? I haven't read the whole thread, but I can put together a Vermont ping list for you!
Yep.
Done already!
I appreciate it, Slings!
I put it on the Vermont board, so I think the Vermonters saw it. No word yet, but I have a few minor leads.
I'll be Fort Collins...quite a long way away. But if there are any statewide FReeper gatherings, maybe I'll get to meet ya!
You have freepmail
Best of luck to you, though! They're beautiful!
Thanks! I think I'll give it one more day and then use it. Don't wanna overdo things...
I appreciate the help!
:^)
Afternoon Kitty bump!
My spoiled brat kitty let me sleep until 6 this morning.
wish we could...but the pooch is demented and believes kitties are just running hairy pouches of dog food....
hehe! :^D
Wish I could help, but with one cat, a dog and a puppy indoors and 2 fosters out, I'm full up. Poor kitty - she's a self-propelled toy for the dogs! Yours are lovely puddies. I wish you success and grieve with you for having to get rid of them.
There's a site called petfinder-dot-org? Hmmmmmmmm. Sorry you had a weird experience there. I've managed to both place and adopt with 2 different rescue groups using petfinder-dot-COM.
*cough* Incidently, anyone have a fenced yard and love enough for 2 sweet doggies? LOL, I'll miss them but dang it gets old taking them out on cold mornings! "Yap, yap, yap! Let us out of the kennel to go pee and poop!" "You ARE outside, dadgummit!"
My Pearl is a sweet kitty but the one I wish I still had is Merlin. Completely black with golden eyes and a mellow lil dude, he was a happy traveller. He was content to ride with me anywhere, but I had to remember his litterbox! I used a yellow plastic toolbox so I could close it and transport it by the handle. To give him a non-slip sleeping pad for the dash, I cut a bathmat in half. And I like TidyCats Crystals for odor control and also because when I hit a bump at the wrong time, the sandy type tended to cling to his dunked butt, LOL.
Cats are adaptable, despite their spastic natures. I have a couple of friends who took their cat with them when the husband decided to return to OTR trucking. I was highly amused to learn the wife uses cat litter when a bathroom isn't handy. She buys the big plastic ones that she can remove the lid and squat on. Just pull the curtain and take care of bidniss, heh. Er, just a tip you hopefully won't need. ;o)
Best of luck to you.
Same site, actually. They own both domains. I tried their classifieds...but like I said, took the add down almost immediately.
Um...make that "ad".
The perils of posting at almost midnight...
