Mum, 31, pens heartbreaking note on what marriage is like after having kids

It is no secret having children can have a big impact on a couple’s relationship.

And one Australian mum, Mel Watts, has touched hearts with an extremely “raw and honest” Facebook post about how her ten year relationship is no longer what it once was.

“Husband. Wife. Roommates? If someone told me years ago that my relationship would one day change, I would have laughed and said no way,” she began in a Facebook post

Yes, once you have kids it’s not about YOU anymore...

If you can’t handle that reality, you and your husband will part company, at the very latest after the kids are out of the house.. if you dwell on what was, instead of embracing what is, you are lost.

Wow, what a bubbling cauldron of needless drama.

I failed to find the "heartbreak" in her Facebook post.

It was a perfectly honest account of how lives change when a married couple has children. Yes, date nights are fewer and farther between. yes, we no longer sleep in late on the weekends.

The only drama in this story was in the title.

I know a lot of men who complain about this. They went from being #1 in their wife’s eyes to last place. Their wives complain about being “exhausted” all the time. Every woman I know on FB is “exhausted”. Half of them don’t do anything but they are “exhausted”.

This is when men take up hunting and fishing.

At least she didn’t kill herself.

And golf. And get a motorcycle if they can afford to. Or a boat. That's life!

thinking of all the things we used to do.

Things, like a walk in the park;
things, like a kiss in the dark;
things like a sailboat ride;
what about the night we cried?

Just thinking about the things we used to do.

It’s all fun and games until the kids arrive.

Then life begins.

didn’t click link to read more but sounds like typical child/selfocused mind in an adult body. “All about me”. Society has too many of these.

Every woman I know on FB is “exhausted”.

If every one of your female friends is "exhausted" why do you think they are lying?

Maybe you are spending too much time on Farcebook?

Many people have come to believe that they should never be uncomfortable, should never have to focus on someone other than themselves, and are not willing to put time or effort into a marriage, or raising kids, or working hard.

As soon as things get tough, or they have to put in effort, they become victims, they cry foul and wish for everyone to join their pity party.

Coping skills and resilience have become extinct.

My favorite is the SAHM’s who want their husband to leave. They go to the judge and the first thing they hear is “Get a job”. “But I homeschool!”. “Not anymore”.
We had a rash of professors running off with graduate students. Girlfriend, now you have a broke old guy.

If they got off fb, they wouldn't be so exhausted.

My daughter is 9 and my Wife & I do enjoy our time as a couple but nothing beats being together as a family.

People let themselves fall into a sedentary acquiescence of sorts and never move or adapt.
