Any gun physics nerds here? Science says its harder to create movement in water than in air, because water molecules are closer together than air molecules.
But would you bet your life on this?
Physicist Andreas Wahl did just that, he is very brave (or stupid) to do such a test. He put himself in front of a weapon submerged in water and fires it on himself. All of this in the name of science.
Now that wasn't too bad, you gotta love the slow-motion preview, its exciting and amazing to watch.
This experiment was two fold:
One water molecules are closer together than air molecules (true) observe the bullet trajectory.
Second this experiment debunks all of Hollywood underwater action sequences. See the full footage of this shoot a weapon at yourself here.
Why do that when there are so MANY imbecile dems just begging for it?
No.
I’d rather pimp a blog. It’s safer.
THIS GUY DID!
The Darwin Awards are bestowed, honoring the least evolved among us.
When his .38 caliber revolver failed to fire at his intended
victim during a hold-up in Long Beach , California would-be
robber James Elliot did something that can only inspire wonder.
He peered down the barrel and tried the trigger again.
This time it worked.
Saw the Mythbusters episode on weapons and water.
It was amazing how water dissipated he force of bullets going into the water. In just a few feet even with the big guns they (and we) love so much.
Subsonic bullets penetrate further
Navy cavitating darts can go about 2000 ft/s underwater
something is missing ? where did the bullet end up ? At first it looked like it was going at the boys....
>>He peered down the barrel and tried the trigger again.
This time it worked.<<
Next time he should rub someone underwater.
Oh, wait. Oh, wait again...
No, but I can think of a few AGW "advocates" that should do it in the name of REAL science.
Too bad Manbearpig’s M16 didn’t malfunction that one time.
Then he discovered the first shot was a blank...
Or graduate research assistants.
Already saw the effect and limiting factors of water on projectiles on MythBusters years and years ago, so I’m betting this guy had access to plenty of previous research to know he was putting on a dog and pony show.
Yes, but my aim might be really, really bad.
He should have tried that first!
No I would not.
With that said, what the professor did was a physics demonstratio, not an experiment.
Myth Busters did a show on this with numerous firearms including a .50 cal. Oddly enough, the lower caliber firearms had deeper water penetration than the .50
Good experiment, great video documentation, stupid and dangerous grandstanding.
You can calculate all you want, and prove it mathematically that you will not be hit, but I would still not stand in front of it.
There ARE people dead for pulling such stunts.
