After the attack on the campus of Ohio State University, where an Islamic refugee attacked people with a knife and then with a truck, a new push has emerged for a bill that would allow concealed-carry permit holders to carry a gun on college campuses in the state of Ohio.
The idea of a lot of people walking around campus with firearms is just terrifying to me, said Angelina Vega.
Vega is a third-year law student at Ohio State and gave her opinion on what she calls controversial legislation during Wednesdays Senate hearing. Vega was a former police officer at the University of Texas-San Antonio and said that Mondays attack would have been even more terrifying if other students were armed.
I know how it would be terrifying to go to an active shooter situation and not know who it is, who is the active shooter because other people have weapons out also, said Vega.
But Katelin Nealeigh, President of Buckeyes for Concealed Carry, disagrees. They should be able to defend themselves still, she said. Just because they are a student doesnt mean they should not be able to protect themselves.
Nealeigh beleives that House Bill 48 is a step in the right direction. Thats because she and the members of Buckeyes for Concealed Carry are trying to change what she calls the university opt-in clause that would allow universities to choose whether students would be able to campus carry of not, she said.
Carrying a concealed handgun at a daycare or airport would also be permitted under the bill. Senator Bill Coley says hes confident that the final bill will pass sometime next week. The bill is a breath of fresh air to handgun and second amendment enthusiasts who say that no one or organization should have the power to forbid second amendment rights even schools and to those who point out that mass shootings have been prevented or lessened in degree when a concealed handgun carrier has been nearby. Furthermore, it is gun free zones that have shown special vulnerability to mass shootings in recent years.

Uh, it was a car and the car got more people first, then the knife got a couple just before the Jihadi went on his trip to meet Satan/Allah.
I wonder what her attitude would be if she was one of the people that got run over or stabbed? Then again....the way they raise them up in the school system...she would probably still be this way.
“After OSU Attack, Bill Will Allow Permit Holders To Carry on Campuses”
Better late than never, I guess.
“The idea of a lot of people walking around campus with firearms is just terrifying to me, said Angelina Vega.”
****
and this idiot was a former POLICE OFFICER??
Gun grabber Kasich will veto it, if it passes.
Yes, I thought the same thing! Because....it scares me more that there would be only 1 person there with a gun....like a mass shooter....with no one to retaliate. With no way to fire back, people are just sitting ducks.
Some permit holders might just be muzzies.
Having a good guy with a gun at scenes of violence, is not a guarantee of a good outcome, but not having one is an absolute guarantee the bad guy will have his way.
What would be even better would be if OSU still deserved their high academic rating. To do this, they’d have to stop accepting students for diversity and affirmative action favoritism. Besides that, they’d have to remove professors and administrators who question the security guard instead of lauding him as the hero he is.
Campus cop, not general cop
The opt in clause is a mistake. The universities are 100% leftist: none will opt in. They could have a mass murder every month, and they will still not opt in. The only way to see carry on campuses is to remove any discretion and say “thou shalt allow.”
I see. Thanks.
