This Young Bow Shooter might be on to something

Instead of using a traditional quiver, this archery shooter uses arrows as hair pins. When she need an arrow she just needs to pull one out of her hair.

This young archery competitor is traveling light with no traditional quiver to get in the way. Where are her extra arrows kept? In her hair, of course.

This interesting idea lends itself to competition shooting. That is as long as you don’t pull your hair out in the process.

For hunting, this large headdress might get caught in branches and brush though.

Watch the video as this young lady shows off her new fashion sense with her utilitarian hairstyle.

“For hunting, this large headdress might get caught in branches and brush though.”

I think the razor sharp broadheads would be a little rough on her hair.

In the fields, maybe. In the woods, not so much.

There was a video of another unorthodox archer here awhile back. The guy held the arrows in his hand, and could rapid fire almost as fast as with a semi automatic pistol. It referenced ancient artwork depicting archers holding their arrows. The quiver is a Hollywood/Robin Hood invention.

I remember that too. Lars Andersen from Denmark. Basically he copied a technique depicted on carvings and drawings of warriors, from ancient Assyria for example. The archers held their arrows in their shooting hand and also shot from that side of the bow. Looking closely, he raises the thumb of the bow hand to provide a rest and then drops it an instant after release of the arrow. Here's the YouTube video:

Quivers have been around for a long time. In THE CONSPIRACY OF PONTIAC it is mentioned a tattooed soldier disappeared one day. Several weeks later an Indian was seen with a quiver made from the skin of that soldier’s arm, tattoo and all.

Henry VIII had his sailors armed with quiver that had holes in it to keep the arrows in place. One was found on the ship MARY ROSE.

Hard to carry them this way if one has a military haircut.

She should have Legolas’s quiver from the Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit.

In the second hobbit movie, he set out on the river with about 10 arrows in his quiver, but managed to shoot AT LEAST a 100 orcs.

That replicating quiver was elf technology at its finest!
