Is he chicken? Is he afraid?
His people will make excuses: it's the smart thing to do. What if he accidentally flubs and stops momentum? Why take the chance?
I don't buy it. He exited Fox's forthcoming debate, formerly scheduled for next week, because he fears that Cruz, who is in second place in the GOP presidential race, will beat him. That's the way it looks. In schoolyard terms, he's running from a one-on-one, a mano-a-mano. That's not the way to win respect – especially from the tough, politically incorrect base that seems to make up much of his support. I'm surprised they aren't making a fuss. If Trump is going to kick butt in Washington and make America great again, what's he doing backing down from mild-mannered Ted Cruz?
Cruz isn't Hulk Hogan. He isn't Albert Einstein.
The problem is, Cruz knows conservatism, has lived it, and has put his political life on the line for it. He's also a champion debater, a lawyer who has argued in front of the Supreme Court, and a man who speaks from the heart – because he believes what he's saying. Trump certainly speaks from the heart. But he doesn't know the issues like Cruz? At best, he's learning.

If Donald Trump won't debate Cruz one-one, Republican voters should take the cue. He's afraid. He doesn't have the answers. He's not who his supporters think he is. On the other hand, if he does debate, it shows he thinks more of the country than just his own fate. That's what America deserves in a candidate. It has it in Cruz, who will debate Trump anywhere, any time. Does it have it in Trump. Does Trump care about the country? Or only himself?

Leaders don’t debate. They lead.
The Heavyweight Champion doesn’t take on any and all challenges from any wannabe. The ‘wannabe’ first has to clear the field of any other contenders. To my mind, Cruz can’t even take out Kasich. Why then should Trump cede any recognition to an also-ran?

And we are all bored.
Why should Trump debate Cruz again? What might make sense is for Cruz to debate Kasich without Trump there.
It is the smart thing to do, but that doesn’t make it the right thing to do.
Reminds me of the old adage.....”Do you want to be right or do you want to be President”.
11 debates against Cruz.....and Trump won every debate.
Because, at this point, he doesn’t have to.
Who will ‘moderate’ the debate? Meygan Kelly? ABC? CBS? CNN? NBC? David Letterman?
They can debate on Twitter well enough. That’s a perfectly fair debate.

After the Fox News-Google debate Megyn Kelly interviewed Ted Cruz. [7:40 Video begins with a 1:00 clip of the earlier debate] Kelly continued to pursue the “amnesty” angle that she’d begun during the debate [starting at 3:41] - about his history on illegals, immigration and amnesty, but concedes:
Kelly: “I look at your record, a lot, to see: Did Ted Cruz really want legalization, or didn’t he?” “I think the record supports you - that you did not want it; it does.”
“It really was a poison pill amendment.” Then there is back and forth where Kelly states that Cruz...
Of course Cruz wants to debate. He doesn’t have 3 moderators and 3 candidates throwing bombs at him at every debate. He doesn’t have a hostile audience like Bush supporters filling up the audience and booing him. He doesn’t have plants in the audience trying to embarrass him. He doesn’t have thousands of fascists trying to shut him down.
Give one good reason why Trump should go? So Cruz can score points with all of this offensive against Trump?? Trump is smarter than that.
FoxNews was supposed to be the only fair and balanced broadcast, perfect for a fair debate. Now look at them!

Because Trump simply doesn’t ‘think well, on his feet’. His ramblings about “the lines around the states” his near continuous repetitions of the same phrase, and his sentences without a verb, or a subject, of both, are examples. ‘Mano a mano’ with Cruz would nearly destroy him. He would be reduced to “liar, liar, pants on fire’. Oh, wait.......
