Here I am, minding my own business, sitting with my husband and son in the Starbucks on Main Street. I had several things to take care of, as our vacation plans have been drastically altered by a broken-down vehicle, and needed internet access to handle them. This is an unusual experience for people who openly carry firearms. I have openly carried firearms for many years, and the number of negative encounters, all milder than the one above, can be numbered on the fingers of one hand. It might help that I have been told that I have a mild and inoffensive appearance. I have also been told that I look like a policeman. Fortunately, I have never had another person loudly complain to management that I was allowed to carry a firearm.
A man came up to me, pointed at my holstered sidearm, and asked rather indignantly, "What is that?"
I replied, "That is my defensive sidearm, sir."
"Well, I'm glad you feel safer, but I don't." he said.
"I'm sorry you feel that way, sir," I said calmly.
The complainer then went immediately (and loudly) went to the staff, demanding they "do something" about me. The staff simply responded that I was well within my rights, and they would do nothing. He told them he didn't feel safe, and another customer piped in that he indeed felt safer with me carrying a sidearm. The complainer then left the store in a huff, hollering that he would never come back to this store, because of the policy.
Later the customer who piped up came by and thanked me for carrying. The staff never made any comment to me. My son did note, however, that the complainer drove off in a car with Massachusetts plates, so that explains a lot.
“MAMIT”
It’s customary when you first use an unfamiliar acronym to expand it, with the acronym in parens.
WTF does ‘MAMIT’ mean?
Oooooo....great thought.
A quiet, one-on-one discussion consisting of: “Do you believe it is wise to publicly harrass someone with a handgun while, you-yourself, are not similarly armed? Overall, if the conversation escalated in emotion, I know what I would do...do you?”
The masshole knew she wasn’t a danger to anyone or he never would have confronted her.
I have got to have that coffee cup! I checked all the links and no luck. Anyone know where this came from?
I have never seen the point of open carry in a society where doing so makes one stand out. I support it, but what’s the point? To stand out?
Here’s why. You mark yourself. If the bad guy is concealing, and determined to carry out his mission, you would be the first one taken care of, and before you knew what happened. Hardly a strategic advantage.
It’s not that common to see open carry in NH, but the people there generally have a live-and-let-live attitude. They are peace-loving—but not pushovers.

On the interwebz, it is called a “bouncy”.
Typical sheeple that believes cops magically obtain super human powers once they put on a badge to carry a gun but mere mortals with a gun are dangerous.
Clearly, option 2.
Remember, we’re talking Star-lotsa-bucks here, favorite hangout of the Birkenstock gang and other such pony-tailed Senior Citizens guys looking for a similarly unkempt “chick” in a hemp dress.
The Commonwealth probably would but NH would not. They have no reciprocity agreement with MA.
:: you would be the first one taken care of ::
In response, I would say that very few sociopaths would complete their intended mission when confronted with an OC-citizen; they would move on to their next target or re-schedule. Those that would follow through would definitely be quickly minimized by the OC owing to, simply, time at the range.
You assumptions are completely wrong and based on inadequate pre-suppostions (e.g. that the socio-path is somewhat sentient as to the “mission”).
BTW, what is your DU handle and your overall post count there?
My guess is "something, something, something in training".
I can not. It is opinion.
I started to add that question you asked, myself, about the ratio for concealment and open carry. I thought however, that my opinion on concealment probably can’t can’t be measured, but it still stands.
Huh?
Since I live in a state in which open carry is illegal and concealed carry permits are almost impossible for the unconnected to obtain, I’m thinking of wearing an empty holster filled with copies of the Constitution. Just to frighten the liberal morons, you understand.

The guy is a “panzy”
Typical Libidiot, THEIR feelings trump everyone else's and their legal rights. Best response is to keep doing what offends them and hope their outrage sends their BP high and thus to an early RIP.
Choice thrre: Call someone else with a gun.
