I have used it previously, but it may be the first time for many.
MAMIT = Middle Aged Men in Tights (radical bicyclists)
My first Google search revealed "Member, Associate of Meat Inspectors Trust".
I do not think the Freeper meant that.
What is a “MAMIT”?
Starbucks donates a crapload of coffee to the military.
Many individual stores do as well. My local SB will occasionally run a drive where people can donate coffee for the troops. They recommend you write a personal message on the bag to let them know how much we appreciate what they do.

I am much like you.
I don’t care to open carry either.
But I would like to be able to carry on certain occasions, and to take along a weapon when I go places strange to me. To have it along in case I need it. In the car or my suitcase for use if the need arises. To have on my bedstand when on vacation.
Years ago a dove hunter in the field down below my parent’s house swung 180 and fired at a bird towards the house. Shot dinged off the picture window I was looking out.
My dad had a conniption over my storming into the field to confront the hunter on his shooting safety.
Shooter was very embarrassed, all well in the end.
The guy says he felt less safe, yet went and confronted the gun owner? Kind of odd behavior, IMO - unless he was lying about feeling unsafe, and just wanted to cause a scene.
Back when we had troops in Iraq, the head of Starbucks, the Schultz guy, made statements, and I read the article, and said that he was against the war and was not going to open up any starbucks shops for the troops because he was against the war. Now, that is what I read. I don’t know if the policy you are saying is now in effect is true or not. But, I KNOW what I read a few years back.
Have you heard about Deterrence? If we hid our nuclear arsenal or our military capabilities would they no longer work to deter others from attacking us? If jails were invisible would they no longer work to deter crime?
If you make yourself look like food, don’t be surprised when something tries to eat you.
Better to look like a tough chunk to chew so the predators go elsewhere.
I think it’s a false assumption based on criminal tactics.
“Guards are the only ones armed at the bank, so we’ll target them first.”
The fault in this is pretty obvious. Bad guys can plan for known quantities like hired Security, but they cannot plan for variables like J. Random Freeper and Co. carrying their personal sidearms.
I blame Hollywood setting up stereotypes that don’t translate to reality very well.

Here is a place that sells guns and coffee mugs and sportswear:
They have a couple of different styles of mugs.
I do have the advantage of carrying a bag, but a visible holster is unnecessarily conspicuous for me.
Surprise has won lives, if you can shoot straight.
Criminals are lazy. If they are casing a business/home to rob and the people are armed... They’ll go elsewhere.
You count on “surprise” as your Ace card and don’t be surprised when you end up on the wrong end of that equation.
Gracias
