I have never seen the point of open carry in a society where doing so makes one stand out. I support it, but what’s the point? To stand out?

Here’s why. You mark yourself. If the bad guy is concealing, and determined to carry out his mission, you would be the first one taken care of, and before you knew what happened. Hardly a strategic advantage.

Name one instance where that has been an issue. Ever.

:: you would be the first one taken care of ::

In response, I would say that very few sociopaths would complete their intended mission when confronted with an OC-citizen; they would move on to their next target or re-schedule. Those that would follow through would definitely be quickly minimized by the OC owing to, simply, time at the range.

You assumptions are completely wrong and based on inadequate pre-suppostions (e.g. that the socio-path is somewhat sentient as to the “mission”).

BTW, what is your DU handle and your overall post count there?

I am much like you.

I don’t care to open carry either.

But I would like to be able to carry on certain occasions, and to take along a weapon when I go places strange to me. To have it along in case I need it. In the car or my suitcase for use if the need arises. To have on my bedstand when on vacation.

If you make yourself look like food, don’t be surprised when something tries to eat you.

Better to look like a tough chunk to chew so the predators go elsewhere.
