Rush: 'Petraeus will reiterate that the video caused the Libyan riots'
Rush Limbaugh Show

Posted on 11/14/2012 1:26:35 PM PST by pabianice

Heard him say it. He warned his listeners to not be surprised when Petraeus restates before Congress that the 'the video caused the riots.' I guess we'll see. If Rush is right, we have to wonder what threats Petraeus has received and from whom.

A truly superb Army career and now it's come to this.

He was obviously threatened. Resign gracefully now. Say nice things in the hearing and we’ll go easy on you. Keep your rank and pension. Don’t blame the boss.

Nope. I think he comes out fighting. They’ve already done what they can do. He comes clean. Huge news coming.

I'm not sure what Rush is basing this on, except that one must keep in mind that military careers are based on following orders and towing the party line even if you disagree.

I'm praying Petraeus takes a look at MacArthur's speech - "Duty, Honor, Country".

He doesn’t NEED to be threatened. He is a true believer. He is up to his eyeballs in democrat politics, he is the author of the Obama rules of engagement, he supports the Arab spring, supports gays in the military, dislikes Israel, etc.

People see General and think “conservative”. Modern generals are multicultural, gay loving, academics who are a shadow of what a General often was even as recently as the 80s.

I honestly doubt Betrayus, who was commissioned a 2LT in Infantry even knows what the weapons platoon is in a rifle company. He damn sure never commanded a US rifle company for long or he’s know how damn tough it is to teach GI’s to align mortar base plates to aiming stakes, use the sights and know what charge to use on a 81 mm plus the elevation and deflection. This is another of our wonder boys who are politicians first and soldiers last. They play KA and do not spend enough time with the troops. They end up being incompetent to lead the CPT’s who really command in combat plus the NCO’s.

I agree. He resigned citing the affair and his career in public service is over. Nothing else they can do to him other than murder.

He got the job at CIA in the first place because he is in Obama’s camp. He is one of them and will protect dear leader, because he AGREES with what happened in Benghazi.

HE is the author of the Afghan ROE that similarly refuses air and artillery to grunts in firefights there. There is no way Petraeus would ever be in favor of dropping a bomb of firing a missile into Benghazi targets.

He would only think that innocent moslems could get hurt. Then he would say “those seals were ordered three times not to go there”. Then he watched on the predator video feed as they died.
He is no blackmailed hero who will ride to our rescue and set things right. He’s a snake in the grass.

Sometimes I think Rush makes statements like this in order to undermine the possibility that it will happen.

Really — the video did it? That is now discredited by everyone. How could Petraeus continue to hold that view without being laughed at?

I agree, Rush is probably correct.

There is more than one thing they are able to hang over his head.

- His wife, who has a lucrative administration job.
- Prosecution for mishandling of confidential information.
- Prosecution of his mistress ditto.
- Future employment prospects in the NGO/academic/contracting/consulting world.

Actually he is in a NO WIN situation....

If he DOESN’T turn on BO, we will ‘condemn him’ or at the least claim he is being blackmailed.

If he DOES turn on BO, they will just ask if he is lying now or was he lying then, AND how do you expect to believe an adulterer, he is NFG.

Of course when wee willie done did it, it was OK.

The only way the Libs don’t ‘lynch him’ is if he toes the line, blames himself and keeps BO’s hands clean.

They compromised his integrity and WE will pay for it.

Actually, I am ‘very concerned’ that he (BO) is starting to purge the Upper Echelon Military, unless of course the administration charges Moochelle with extravagant spending....

Hold your breath etc....

I guess in the case of the purge of Military it will be interesting to see if the underlings ‘toe the line’ or feel threatened OR take it as an opportunity to advance themselves.

Of course they are the real ‘naive’ ones as they will be refusing to see how yesterdays ‘fair haired guys’ get thrown out with the bath water today....

I said the same thing. Don’t expect anything shocking from Petraeus

Petraeus is above all a creature of the bureaucracy. He’s not going to buck the system now, even though they have him on the ropes

Obama and his team were smart enough to hold the release of his sexual exploits until after the election. If Petraeus’ was really a loose cannon (which he is not), then they would also be smart enough 1) to keep the scandal secret and allow him to continue or 2) to still hold back even more unrevealed secrets as leverage, to force him to tow the line during any hearings.

That is assuming Petraeus even has something incendiary to tell. He simply may not know as much as we think he does.

Petraeus brought to the war the brilliant insight that when you don’t have enough troops to guard strong points and attack the enemy at the same time, the solution is to send more troops. In other words, not particularly earth-shaking or even original. His particular genius was being able to sell GWB on the concept of adding reinforcements, where Westmoreland had supposedly failed in Vietnam.

In reality, just as Westmoreland’s troop buildup had crushed the Vietcong, the politicians decided to withdraw, leaving the field open to a conventional invasion from the North. In Iraq, as in Vietnam, I’d argue that the insurgents were never in a position to to win, and the main threat was one of invasion. The difference in Iraq was that there’s no way Iran could have invaded, without us responding, given the stranglehold on Gulf oil resources it would have given the Iranians.

Then Petraus would confirm that Obama is a liar.

Remember the exchange during the “crowley” debate?

Let me refresh your memory:

“The day after the attack, Governor, I stood in the Rose Garden, and I told the American people and the world that we are going to find out exactly what happened, that this was an act of terror. And I also said that we’re going to hunt down those who committed this crime. And then a few days later, I was there greeting the caskets coming into Andrews Air Force Base and grieving with the families. “
