(IBD) Obama To Sign Anti-Second Amendment U.N. Gun Grab
True Conservatives On Twitter ^ | November 8, 2012

Second Amendment: The United Nations is putting the finishing touches on an Arms Trade Treaty that transcends borders and may even trample our Constitutional right to bear arms. Every indication is that the president will sign it.

Like the New Start and Law of the Sea treaties before it, as well as the Kyoto Protocol and Agenda 21, the Arms Trade Treaty being finalized at the U.N. this month is one of those feel-good, can't-we-all-get-along pieces of parchment whose net effect is to accomplish little except to eat away at American sovereignty and freedom.

Just as the world's worst human rights violators sat on and often chaired the U.N. Human Rights Council, Iran, arms supplier extraordinaire to America's enemies, was elected on Saturday to a top position on the United Nations Conference on the Arms Trade Treaty being held in New York. It began July 2 and extends through July 27.

This came right after the same U.N. found Iran guilty of illegally transferring guns and bombs to the murderous Syrian regime of Bashar Assad, currently slaughtering thousands of its own citizens as an impotent U.N. joins the U.S. administration in standing around and watching.

The mindset of the one-worlders preaches that guns cause crime and war and if we only get rid of those otherwise inanimate objects the evil that lurks in the hearts and minds of men will suddenly dissipate. Then we can buy the world a soft drink and sing "Kumbaya."

We are assured by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who enthusiastically backs the treaty, that it only deals with international trade and trafficking and does not affect our Second Amendment rights. How the treaty would have dealt with Operation Fast and Furious, the administration program that walked guns into the hands of Mexican drug cartels,

"This has yet to get ratified, correct?"

"Ratified"? - That's only something they worry about in a Constitutional Republic - not here.

Obama can sign it until he's blue in the face but it will remain nothing more than a piece of paper unless he can get 66 senators to pass it. The reason it was dropped back in August was that 46 senators had already signed a letter to the NRA saying they would vote against it if it ever made it that far. (including a couple democrats).

Matt - sounds eerily like “Enemies Foreign and Domestic”, which I’m reading at the moment.

Very good comment here.

There is no evidence that any rule needs to be followed by the administration and usurper-in-chief.

I will not comply.

I don't have the details, but I have heard that if the treaty is signed and not explicitly voted against in the Senate the US government will treat it as being in effect. And there is no way Harry Reid would allow it to come up for a vote knowing that even with their history of spinelessness, the Republicans would vote against the treaty.

I cannot comply. During a tragic boating accident yesterday, all my firearms went to the deepest part of Lake Michigan along with my 14 foot johnboat. Guess I picked the wrong day to be out on the lake?

I know that Hussein and the SCOTUS have declared The Constitution NULL and VOID, but I would expect the senate to reject ratification.

Who is going to come collect my gun, anyway? I have some items to give them, one by one.

Signing it and enforcing it are two different things as he and his UN troops will find out.

This from Reuters today shows what we all knew 0dumbo would do
“Reuters) - Hours after U.S. President Barack Obama was re-elected, the United States backed a U.N. committee’s call on Wednesday to renew debate over a draft international treaty to regulate the $70 billion global conventional arms trade.

U.N. delegates and gun control activists have complained that talks collapsed in July largely because Obama feared attacks from Republican rival Mitt Romney if his administration was seen as supporting the pact, a charge Washington denies.”

Nope, only two-thirds of “those present” are necessary for ratification.

All Dingy Harry has to do is call a secret session of 51 (quorum) of his Rat Buddies and have 34 of them vote for it.

Sorry, Senate will not ratify it.

1) Sorry, the United States Supreme Court will never let Obamacare pass Constitutional muster.

2) Sorry, Obama will never be re-elected to President of the United States based on his first term record.

See a trend?
