“In Illinois’ 2004 Senate race, when the popular conservative Jack Ryan looked certain to win on the issues, the left attacked him for having grasped at straws to save his marriage and avoid a divorce.”

Well, that is certainly one way to rewrite history. For those who may not be aware of the details of that situation, the “grasping at straws to save his marriage” amounted to (allegedly) trying to cajole his wife to go to sex clubs and engage in public sex acts in the presence of (and maybe with?) strangers.

No, Boogieman, you’re accepting the Obama shills’ claim of what it was.

The man was a good looking but unexciting midwesterner, married to a gorgeous Hollywood actress, and he saw his marriage failing. He thought she was being lured by the excitement of Hollywood, so he, in a desperate attempt to show that he was more hip than he was, took her to a couple of wild clubs. He mistakenly thought that was what she wanted. (and they turned out to be wilder than he realized or intended).

Instead of being applauded for having tried - however clumsily - to save his marriage, it became the only sex scandal in American history that didn’t involve actual sex.

A PR disaster, and the GOP’s inept response led to the national stature of the very undeserving Barack Obama.

Admittedly, Akin’s comments were sophomorically stupid and ill-informed. No doubt an appeasing attempt to pander to the left by offering some excuse other than a simple “I am against abortion because it is just plain murder of a human soul” and then to stand by that assertion.

This brouhaha against him is just the “Foleyization” of this election. The more it is discussed and argued the more ittakes away our edge in bringing Obama’s miserable failure on the economy and jobs.

You cannot reason with liberals or fight them with logic- you defeat them utterly at the polls by ignoring their bleats. Accepting defeat on some predicated moral high ground only fuels them further.

This is much ado about nothing.

It’s not the “Obama schills’” claim, it’s what was in the divorce papers that got released. Of course, since it was a divorce, there is a he said/she said element, so what really happened is open for debate. Still, saying he was just trying to save his marriage and leaving out the key fact that he was taking his wife to sex clubs where people engage in public sex acts is skipping over the debate entirely.

He used the word “legitimate” correctly, meaning “real,” or “properly identified”… but the left has twisted his statement to ridiculously imply that he believes some rapes are acceptable, proper, lawful. A completely different use of the word than he intended, as is obvious to anyone with sense. But because the word could be taken a couple of different ways, the media ran with the deception.

Yep -- and a whole lot of "conservatives" fell into that net and the liberal media reeled them in.

I do not understand why conservatives are so anxious to jump into these things. They never seem to know which side they are on. I understood exactly what he meant (inartfully said) as soon as I heard the clip. His biology is wrong, I believe (and I’m a biology teacher, so I understand how the human body works). He may well believe that tho. And, btw, MOST Americans are very bad at science, so if you gave a pop quiz most of them would fail basic biology, so he’s not in the minority there.
What is astounding is how quickly conservatives toss their own under the bus. And don’t get that this is EXACTLY what the left wants us to do.

Exactly right, Brytlea.

There is so much to know in the world... from biology to physics to chemistry to math... it’s impossible to know everything.

If we agree to toss a candidate as soon as he fails a gotcha question, we’re dommed, because we’ve given the left carte blanche to use gotcha questions as their entire campaign.

Yup, and it’s impossible to use against them because they have no scruples and they simply circle the wagons and move on (how they do that with circled wagons I don’t know but they do).

That is for sure. They HATE Akin and there is nothing to change their minds. The sad thing is, it is mostly liberal FREEPERS who are yelling at the rooftops about poor Akin. These are the same people who love Romney.

Akin’s gotta go but Scott Brown is just being pragmatic when he says we need to allow more of the “good” baby killers into the big tent and even wants the party platform to reflect it.

That is an interesting connection : the advocates for Romney are the detractors for Akin. Curious. Installing Romney while eliminating those with the spine to stand against his liberalism doesn't mesh with the "hold his feat to the fire" meme.

MaKaSSKill is target rich. There is the National Debt, the Downgrade, the fact that the Reid/MaKaSSKill Senate has not passed a bill in over three years, ObamaCare, unemployment, etc.

The Idiot apologized. Period.

Ladies and Gentlemen, it is time to carpet bomb Missouri with ads that focus on what people are worried about, namely jobs, the economy, and the national debt and (did I say)jobs. Let us get on with it and win the damn war.

Do you really wonder why? I mean, really?

FR has pretty much transitioned from a conservative website to a gop fansite. Enjoy posting while you can.

I have give credit where it’s due and commend willard, inc. for their masterful handling of this whole sordid affair. Within 24 hours willard, inc. successfully threw the socon under the bus, burnished their pro-abort credentials, demonstrated what happens to conservatives who step out of line, and did so with the tacit approval of the so-called conservative base. And for a bonus, they demonstrated that they would be able to silence the conservative Paul Ryan on an issue he has to date been a vocal on: the cause to end infanticide.

Gotta hand it to them. willard, inc. makes Machiavelli and alinsky look like a couple of pikers.
