Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev) says he will be introducing new rules for how the Senate conducts business if Democrats control both Houses and the Presidency after the November elections. Reids target is the cloture vote required to cut off debate. Under current rules it takes only 41 senators to block cloture.
Right now its kind of a moot point because even if we could silence GOP obstructionists in the Senate whatever we pass can still be thwarted by the GOP-controlled House, Reid pointed out. But if Democrats controlled both Houses and the Presidency eliminating a senate minoritys ability to impede legislation would be a much more important tool for pressing ahead with a progressive agenda.
Reid acknowledged that he would oppose the reforms he has in mind from being made if Republicans were to regain a majority in the Senate in the upcoming elections. Republicans are anti-progressive, Reid argued. Their policies are bad for America. We will use every tool in our kit, including the filibuster, to prevent them from enacting legislation we deem harmful to this nations well-being.

Hairy is almost as entertaining as Pocahontas Warren.

The old F*** is completely off his rocker. Who has been poisoning the water in D.C. all these years?
The corrupt Harry Reid’s sour puss single handedly negates all the good done by the “I am a Mormon” campaign.
The Republicans should jump on this and promise to do the same if they win the majority.
D’oh! Tricked again!

I’m not sure this will be satire for long.
For once I think that the Republicans should agree with Harry, coming out to say that they will plan to invoke cloture against Democrat senators, so that *they* will no longer obstruct the business of the senate.
And they can do so with a straight face, by noting that the Democrat controlled senate has not even *tried* to pass an Obama-era budget, so they should stand aside and let the Republicans do so.
Harry perfectly demonstrates the no holds barred approach to governance, whereas the GOP always come in with the golden rule-style “we’re going to treat them the way we would want to be treated (were we in the minority)”.
It really is infuriating!
And if the Republicans control it, they'll prattle on about how we all need to work together and share power.

They shouldn’t say anything. They should just do it and run national ads for a month quoting Harry Reid.
