Palin: Ryan's budget is a great start, but it doesn't go far enough nor do it quick enough

.

In an interview last night on Fox News, Gov Palin stated that the Paul Ryan budget was a good start. She thanked him for having the political courage to bring the budget issues to the debate. However, she went further than any other potential POTUS candidate in calling for more and quicker cuts than even Paul Ryan's budget. In one interview, Gov Palin has positioned herself has the most fiscal conservative of the possible candidates. Her leaving her state with $12 billion surplus lends even more weight to her argument. The massive surplus in AK that Gov Palin left the state with shows that Gov Palin not only talks about fiscal conservative issue on the stump, when given the power she practices it. She cut overall spending by 9.5% during boom times in AK. She also requested 86% less earmarks from the federal government.

In the interview she also calls for standing firm and NOT increasing the debt limit in the coming months, returning the federal government to its core fiscal duties.

It is becoming increasingly apparent that when it comes to fiscal issues, Gov Palin represents a sea change in thinking among the Gop leaders. Time after time Gov Palin shows she is a Reaganite on issue after issue. She is in words and deeds calling for a return of Reaganism. If she is nominated, the Gop party will go into Nov 2012 as the party talking about Reaganomics once more instead of the party of Bush crony capitalism.

Transcript of interview on 2012 budget items:

Question: In that regard we have got Paul Ryan who is now proposong $5 trillion in cuts over the next 10 years. I think if he is saying $5 trillion then nothing is off the table, Medicaid, medicare. I mean what do you think about this. Is everything fair game? Palin: Everything is fair game. Nothing should be off the table. We can't afford to take anything off the table. We have to make sure National defense is fully funded, that's number 1. From there, we put everything on the table and make some good choices and good priorities of where the dollars should go. But remember Judge again we are bringing in $6 billion a day. Out of that $6 billion, if we service our debt, if we fund national security and constitutionally mandated services, just the essentials. We do that first and then there doesn't have to be a shutdown, just because politicians are claiming that there would be a shutdown if we don't increase the debt limit. As for Representative's Ryan's proposal, his roadmap, it's good. It's a great start. Unfortunately, it doesn't really dig into the debt and get our arms around it. Or stop the deficit spending practice that we have become unfortunately accustomed too for still a long time down the road. But it is a great start, he showed a lot of courage and he is spending some political capital in proposing it. I support it. I'm glad he is going to do it. I just wish we could be more aggressive and do this quicker because if not we are going to be beholden to other countries, who will own us. They will own our debt. We will be less free. We will be less secure. At least Representative Ryan's proposal gets us on the right track towards solvency.

question: But Governor, even Social security? Do you think that might be a bit too drastic?

Palin: Absolutely not. It's necessary. It's like a pyramid scheme or a Ponzi scheme right now. There are going to be fewer payers paying into the system then there are recipients. Something has got to change. So we can't just say social security is that third rail of politics that can't be touched. No, that and Medicaid, Medicare, all the entitlements programs and of course the discretionary spending, all of that has to be on the table. Otherwise, Judge, there will be no social security net, there will be no Medicaid or Medicare or anything else. There will be no entitlement programs because our country will be underwater. We will be bankrupt. We will be beholden to and owned by other countries if we don't put everything on the table

I was cheering for Palin to get the Veep slot in'08 and have long been a fan. I used to watch her on Kudlow's show (God, I am such a political junkie) and wish she would be President.

I think Pence would be a better president and more electable. My heart races at the thought of Christie absolutely demolishing the commie in 3 debates-if the mighty O would even show up for the second two.

That being said, Palin is made of awesome and I believe she is the best we have that might still get into the game. I just wish she stayed on as Governor-not because I think she quit-but because it denied her ample opportunity to shine as she guided her state to fiscal sanity. She has been eclipsed by Walker and Chritie in the public's eye only because she has been out of the game.

I think the GOp blinked because they wanted to blink. they don't really believe in what they are saying but they know they have to show some cuts to keep their positions....nothing else really explains it.

I’m sold. She knows how much needs to be done. Ryan’s plan is a great start to pulling out of the Obama mess, but more needs to be done to dismantle the welfare state. I think we need to look at it in stages, the way the Fabians have. We need reset the ratchet to “unscrew” and keep moving in that direction, a lot or a little, but keep moving.

Yes UNSERIOUS! Paul Ryan has spent years studying the issue and has put together the most comprehensive plan that anyone in Washington has ever attempteedd to get our fiscal house in order and she goes on TV for a 3 minute interview and says it's not enough! Where the hell is her plan? Anyone can throw stones...where's the alternative that she would like to see?

I think you are reading something false into what she said.

She said Ryan's plan was "a great start". Then she said we are going to have to do more after that. I bet you Ryan agrees with that. We will have to do more. What the hell is sooo unreasonable about that?

Why would she. She said she SUPPORTS IT.

Pavlovian.

Your comment is empty. If you really have something of substance to say about her comments, then say it.

well you see. Palin said it therefore in the PDS inflicted it is automatically wrong or something. The more the Pds sufferers complain about anything and everything THAT WOMAN says the more they become a joke.

Substance!??? My comment was about the salivating comments made by others... not about Sarah or her comments. I grow so tired of the shallow, “Sarah is so frigging awesome” commentary. THAT lacks substance.

So if Sarah's comments were good, and if some people salivate over them, what's the problem?

At the very least, these people are getting excited about something that is important to the future of this country. Compare that to the people who get excited when a ballplayer hits a home run, when an American Idol sings a song on TeeVee, or when a House Speaker agrees to the largest most debt ridden budget bar none, in US history.

Sure. the Budget is how they trick you. A fixed dollar amount first. Then the budget. Like a kids allowance. For example. Cut all Federal pay by 25%. Eliminate 50% of all Agencies. etc would be a good start. Limit spending to actual cash on hand.

The $12 billion is AFTER they gave a big chuck of it back to the people. Since the people pay no state income tax, no sales tax and no state property taxes they are not really any taxpayers in AK. Palin forward funded education, made major payments on the unfunded pension programs, invested in infrastructure projects, placed tax credits to encourge a film industry (which is now thriving in AK) and they still are in great finiacial shape. Esp now has oil shoots up Palin’s tax policy on oil increases as oil price increases. So has the oil goes up the $12 billion surplus continues to go up.

I sure hope Palin ends up our presidential nominee. Bachmann is too risky because she has nowhere NEAR been vetted and proven with regard to harsh media attacks, as has Palin, and besides, Bachmann is already worth her weight in gold where she is. I hope she has the grace and bigness of heart to step aside for Palin in the GOP primaries. If Palin and Bachmann are in the same race competing for the same votes, ALL it will do is weaken both; if Bachmann runs and therefore Palin is "big" about it and stays out, Bachmann will pose a MUCH bigger risk of losing the whole ball of wax than Palin.

Palin is a wholly, completely known quanity with zero surprises left in terms of "Quayle" susceptibility, thanks to a hostile and vicious press.

Bachmann is a complete and serious risk in that area, regardless of her own assessment of her viabilities; the media spin machine could make Santa Claus look like a terrorist, and it could make Bachmann look as bad as it has made Palin look. The DIFFERENCE is that Palin has proven that she and her family can stand up to the fire with grace and panache. Palin can and does STILL draw tens of thousands of people to hear her speak -- not just hundreds, not just thousands, but tens of thousands (do some online research on sold-out Pali rallies in 2011 if you doubt me).

Bachmann has ZERO advantage over Palin in terms of a GOP presidential contender, and indeed, several disadvantages. I like Bachmann's politics, believe she is as true a conservative and American patriot as Palin, and that she serves the country best in Congress. Palin is a better communicator (read the transcript -- she is well-spoken and speaks TO people, not AT them or ABOVE them) and I know from empirical evidence that many, many skeptics and otherwise apolitical types are attracted by Palin's clarity.

Just because the MSM says Palin's not smart enough and not popular enough, doesn't mean that the American public doesn't think the MSM is a contemptible bunch of biased borderline liars. ON THE CONTRARY, go to any MSM news website -- LA Times, ABC, Yahoo News -- as I have, and read the reader comments on stories about Obama playing golf, or the latest "nothing to see here, move along" terrorist-appearing incident in America, or Juan Williams' firing. GO READ THEM, and you will see that often, easily TEN TO ONE, regular consumers of the MSM write in their comments that: a) they loathe Obama; b) they hold Liberalism responsible for most that ails this nation and c) they are extremely disgusted with the mainstream press for being a shill for Obama and liberalism.

I know that for happy-to-be-cynical defeatists among the ranks of conservatives, such truth is hard to take. It takes AS MUCH COURAGE TO ADMIT GOOD TRUTHS AS IT DOES TO ADMIT BAD TRUTHS.

The good truth that so many conservatives insist on denying, is that regular Joe-and-Jane America is as poised as it can be to embrace Palin and everything she stands for, especially since the MSM says otherwise; people think the MSM stinks.

I hope Bachmann has the class and wisdom to step aside for Palin and help her from the wings because Palin is far and away the better bet.
