Palin the GREAT!
I don’t say she’s perfect. But I say she’s close.
I watched it this morning. I thought the interview was great. When she called out Social Security as a ponzi scheme, I was excited that somebody loudly said it. So long as “Social Security” exists we’ll have neither Freedom, nor security. It’s a millstone around our country’s neck in more ways than one.
End socialism, and end it NOW!
she’s the best I’ve seen in 23 years.
As far as I'm concerned Palin's comments were unserious political posturing...pablum for the very small population of her supporters.
I watched it last night and it’s great re-reading it again here because she was JUST GREAT.
New day, same Sarah.
I love it and that’s makes her more serious than the other jokers who rely on their precious inside the beltway advisers tell them:
“don’t go too far, play for the precious independents and moderates, it may be right to deal with entitlements but we don’t know how to argue for it the right way, dont rock the boat!
was that your head exploding?
Leadership can do that to RINO’s you know...
Equally important, listen to what the MSM is reporting about the budget deal. Obama and Reid are being painted as weaklings who held 2/3 control and gave in when they didn’t have to. Palin is right that it will take too long, but it’s the start of a process that can always go faster *IF* we continue to win elections and *IF* our leaders have the same, ahem “fortitude” that she displays. The MSM is unwittingly helping by jumping on the left as being ineffective, and whether it’s Palin or someone else that rises to fill the gap, it will be a huge step in the right direction.
Disagree? Then tell me, had we not won control of the House last Nov., would we even be having this conversation? Or would madame Pelosi be stepping off her private USAF jet to announce yet more tax-and-spend country-killing deals?
One step at a time. It’s the only way.
Palin is at least honest in saying that the problem is bigger than they want to admit and that their proposals are insufficient.
I don't know how to do what we need to do. I do not yet know if Palin knows how to do what we need to do.
But Palin does understand the problem. Not many do.
hell she is the only one that endorsed Ryan’s roadmap in the first place. She could have stopped there since she was the most fiscal conservative at that stage. But no, she went further, she made it impossible for any other candidate to get to her right on fiscal issues. And she has the record to prove it. Palin gets elected and EVERYTHING is on the table.
Exactly right. I knew of Sarah before 08, she is much more intelligent than most believe.
Unserious? So finally saying that we have to put everything on the table including entitlements is being unserious?
She is telling it like it is, what needs to be done, obviously your Mitts and Newrs if the world must be serious since they didn’t say it! Sheesh!
she also cut governor’s spending by 80% over the previous governor. Makes you wonder what the previous AK gov was doing with 80% more on himself
Well you notice she says she supports Ryan’s budget. She WISHES it had more cuts and handled them quicker. She is understanding realities but also setting the bar higher. She would make a good horse trader.
“End socialism, and end it NOW!”
I like that as a theme! or just End Socialism Now.
We have got to start calling it like it is. We are NOT living in a free country. We are living in a socialist soft tyranny. When a middle class family with an income of 100k loses an effective 40% every year to taxes that is NOT freedom that is slavery to the government.
Palin is showing the guts to call it like it is no matter how unsettling the truth may be.
you got a link for that figure I would love to include it in my future fiscal talking points on Palin...
Yep that’s right I’m a rino...just like every other conservative who doesn’t drool over Sarah Palin. Idiot. I’m not even a frigging Republican and never have been!
No longer "the party of No" or the party "with no ideas of it's own".
That's why when she runs, she will be tenacious and crush all her GOP opponents.
here is a link to the entire video of the interview if anyone wants to hear her say it as well as read it.
Yes UNSERIOUS! Paul Ryan has spent years studying the issue and has put together the most comprehensive plan that anyone in Washington has ever attempteedd to get our fiscal house in order and she goes on TV for a 3 minute interview and says it's not enough! Where the hell is her plan? Anyone can throw stones...where's the alternative that she would like to see?
And for you information I don't support either Mitt or Newt....that's a big assumption on your aprt and only fools assume.
The whole idea of a “Budget” is part of the Scam. The government should be given a fixed allowance and forced to live within it.
oh did THAT woman upstage your hero?
If you cannot properly identify the problem; then you have NO HOPE of ever solving it, no matter what you do. Plans to "fix" something when you refuse to honestly define what that "something" is, are pure sophistry ... worse than useless.
She’s right on this. Ryan is a RINO embryo, he is not a revolutionary and does not have the testosterone to be a political force. His ideas are mostly repackaged old antiques that never worked or never found support. But his people are good at catchy brand names like “Roadmap for America”.
As much as I don’t like Krugman, he had Ryan pegged right.
And Palin is on the money and diplomatic too. Rather than say Ryan’s efforts are a POS, she says it doesn’t go far enough, i.e. his ideas are inadequate, i.e. he’s a loser.
But he has a pretty face if that is worth any political points these days. But no where near as handsome as JFK who had star power looks.
So I don’t see him as being a memorable figure in history. The media like his pretty face so he will become their Republican darling I am sure, and then he will be sucked into their vortex -—> RINO in Waiting.
Sorry Ryan cheerleaders but thems the facts. Flame away!
Exactly -- right now the Dems still control the Senate and the Veto pen. We are NOT going to get what we want right now, and anyone who thinks we will is an idiot.
The goal right now is to get what we can -- make them move as far toward us as we can possibly squeeze. That has been the Dems strategy for decades -- take whatever they give you and move the bar in increments.
The all or nothing blah blah blah yada yada yada contingent on here seem to be clueless as to how things actually need to be done at times.
The time to hold the feet to the fire is when the R's control everything -- they failed miserable with Bush and it cost us Obama, Pelosi and Ried. NEXT TIME they must act swiftly and decisively, just as Palin is advocating.
“If you agree with Palin that Paul Ryan’s budget proposal could be improved, click here to read the 2012 budget proposal put forth by Sen. Rand Paul.
No longer “the party of No” or the party “with no ideas of it’s own”. “
There was a very glowing news article of Palin before she was picked for VP. The media used to love her, because she was a thorn against the corrupt AK gop, earning her a 90% approval rating. Its difficult to find, but I fell in love with her because of that article. I remember that articled talked about how she was the whistle blower against corruption in the gop, many of who ended up fined or in jail. She left her high salary as Chief Regulator of Oil and Gas over the corruption and was vindicated a year later
She fired the gov’s chef telling her kids not to get used to having someone cook for you. Sold gov’s jet.
but what I can find for now
about the 80% spending cut on herself as gov
The link is in my post above - I’ve just skimmed it but it’s very impressive - detailed and specific, and with estimated outcomes for each cut.
I for one feel better knowing there are solid conservatives like Palin, Bachmann, Ryan, Paul, and others who have the intelligence to see what must be done and the courage to say it and stand by their words.
She endorsed and was the only one of the potentials to approve of Ryans plan a long time ago! And she still does! What’s your freaking problem?
Just because she said that there could be more done to it, is not a disservice or disrespect to Ryan, I don’t like everything in the Roadmap plan but it is the best idea out there so far and it is a start, you are just wanting to pick a fight with Palin for some odd reason
you know the dems are unable to pass anything at the monent either right? you say the dems control the Senate and the veto pen? So freaking what. the GOp controls the house. Nothing Obama wants can get pass without the GOp agreeing to it. Therefore the GOp has incredible power to force the dems to cave to thier ideas in exchange for allowing some of the dme ideas to pass.
this gop rino talking point that we can’t do nothing ATM because they have the senate is hogwash.
pds it is what it is
Sorry about that...unlike you and the resty of Sarah’s cheerleaders I left my cheerleading outfit an pom poms at home.
What could she say that you wouldn't consider "unserious political posturing"?
I put more weight behind what she says than I do 99.44% of the other so-called potential candidates. Who do you think states their message without the political posturing?
here is the article I think you are talking about:
and thanks for the links...
Looks like budget cuts are coming whether folks like it or not. The Congress had a chance to maintain our financial system and credibility but instead, this is coming in July. If QE3 follows QE2, the referenced article says we can expect month over month inflation to be approximately 5% to 10% or 100% per year... can anyone say "Currency Crisis?" or "Weimar Republic?"
In a very few months, one brand of insanity or another is going to come to visit. Palin already has seen these numbers and is getting out in front of the wave.
Huff and puff. What an intellectually bankrupt comment.
Folks like you are going to find fault with Palin, no matter what she says or does.
She could win the nomination, go on to win the general, then reverse the last 100 years of the leftist agenda in her first 100 days in office, and you’d STILL find something to criticize her for.
that be hilarious, that be like sticking a fork in the media’s eye. “See this? Just in case some of you in the media are birthers”
no you have your pompoms hidden
With 22 Dem Senate seats up for relection in 2012, you don’t think we can peel off some to our side to take these issues seriously on the floor. Of course the far left is going to fight every penny and demagogue the issues. The Ryan budget is pretty moderate in terms of dollar amounts...it is the big ideas of reforming entitlements and tackling Obamacare that are the hard part. This lays out our sides position, and we go from there. I am sure there is going to be compromise for 2012. There has to be when the other party is at the table. I am pretty sure Ryan is aware of that.
As far as your thoughts on Palin, this is what leaders do. Much like Ryan and Pence, she is laying out an opening position, and it is one that pretty much anyone on our side agrees with. The Ryan budget is a great start, but only is a start. We have massive budget problems, and this is just the beginning. If we pretend like Ryan’s is the far right position, we have a tougher road, it has to be sold as a serious and reasonable proposal to win over a good part of the population.
I agree in principle, but not in practice. I think that the government needs to have a fixed allowance in the ratio of money vs. population size (like so much per capita), but that’s problematic too. I like the sentiment, because government needs to fit in it’s bounds, not bounds expanding to fit government. If I’m saying that right... hopefully I did.
By Dewie Whetsell, Alaskan Fisherman. (As posted in comments on Gretas article referencing the MOVEON ad about Sarah Palin) :
The last 45 of my 66 years Ive spent in a commercial fishing town in Alaska. I understand Alaska politics but never understood national politics well until this last year. Heres the breaking point: Neither side of the Palin controversy gets it Its not about persona, style, rhetoric, its about doing things. Even Palin supporters never mention the things that Im about to mention here.
1- Democrats forget when Palin was the Darling of the Democrats, because as soon as Palin took the Governors office away from a fellow Republican and tough SOB, Frank Murkowski, she tore into the Republicans Corrupt Bastards Club (CBC) and sent them packing. Many of them are now residing in State housing and wearing orange jump suits. The Democrats reacted by skipping around the yard, throwing confetti and singing la la la la (well, you know how they are). Name another governor in this country that has ever done anything similar. But while youre thinking, Ill continue.
2- Now with the CBC gone, there were fewer Alaskan politicians to protect the huge, giant oil companies here. So, she constructed and enacted a new system of splitting the oil profits called ACES. Exxon (the biggest corporation in the world) protested and Sarah told them dont let the door hit you in the stern on your way out. They stayed, and Alaska residents went from being merely wealthy to being filthy rich. Of course the other huge international oil companies meekly fell in line. Again, give me the name of any other governor in the country that has done anything similar.
3- The other thing she did when she walked into the governors office is she got the list of State requests for federal funding for projects, known as pork. She went through the list, took 85% of them and placed them in the when-hell-freezes-over stack. She let locals know that if we need something built, well pay for it ourselves. Maybe she figured she could use the money she got from selling the previous governors jet because it was extravagant. Maybe she could use the money she saved by dismissing the governors cook (remarking that she could cook for her own family), giving back the State vehicle issued to her, maintaining that she already had a car, and dismissing her State provided security force (never mentioningI imaginethat shes packing heat herself). Im still waiting to hear the names of those other governors.
4- Now, even with her much-ridiculed gosh and golly mannerism, she also managed to put together a totally new approach to getting a natural gas pipeline built which will be the biggest private construction project in the history of North America. No one else could do it although they tried. If that doesnt impress you, then youre trying too hard to be unimpressed while watching her do things like this while baking up a batch of brownies with her other hand.
5- For 30 years, Exxon held a lease to do exploratory drilling at a place called Point Thompson. They made excuses the entire time why they couldnt start drilling. In truth they were holding it like an investment. No governor for 30 years could make them get started. This summer, she told them she was revoking their lease and kicking them out. They protested and threatened court action. She shrugged and reminded them that she knew the way to the court house. Alaska won again.
6- President Obama wants the nation to be on 25% renewable resources for electricity by 2025. Sarah went to the legislature and submitted her plan for Alaska to be at 50% renewables by 2025. We are already at 25%. I can give you more specifics about things done, as opposed to style and persona . Everybody wants to be cool, sound cool, look cool. But thats just a cover-up. Im still waiting to hear from liberals the names of other governors who can match what mine has done in two and a half years. I wont be holding my breath.
By the way, she was content to to return to AK after the national election and go to work, but the haters wouldnt let her. Now these adolescent screechers are obviously not scuba divers. And no one ever told them what happens when you continually jab and pester a barracuda. Without warning, it will spin around and tear your face off. Shoulda known better.
“End Socialism Now.”
I like it.
“When a middle class family with an income of 100k loses an effective 40% every year to taxes that is NOT freedom that is slavery to the government.”
And a sizable portion gets a refund, with no payment at all! The problem is that it’s been about 6-7 generations since we’ve had many of our freedoms, and at that time, a whole segment of the population had none. So it’s (freedom) a more foreign concept to each passing generation. And that, is why the public education system NEEDS to GO, too!*
