Obama amputates our nuclear arms
By: Charles Krauthammer
...snippet...
Under President Obamas new policy, however, if the state that has just attacked us with biological or chemical weapons is in compliance with the Non-Proliferation Treaty, explained Gates, then the U.S. pledges not to use or threaten to use nuclear weapons against it.
Imagine the scenario: Hundreds of thousands are lying dead in the streets of Boston after a massive anthrax or nerve gas attack. The president immediately calls in the lawyers to determine whether the attacking state is in compliance with the NPT. If it turns out that the attacker is up-to-date with its latest IAEA inspections, well, it gets immunity from nuclear retaliation. (Our response is then restricted to bullets, bombs and other conventional munitions.)
However, if the lawyers tell the president that the attacking state is NPT noncompliant, we are free to blow the bastards to nuclear kingdom come.
This is quite insane. Its like saying that if a terrorist deliberately uses his car to mow down a hundred people waiting at a bus stop, the decision as to whether he gets hanged or 100 hours of community service hinges entirely on whether his car had passed emissions inspections.
Apart from being morally bizarre, the Obama policy is strategically loopy. Does anyone believe that North Korea or Iran will be more persuaded to abjure nuclear weapons because they could then carry out a biological or chemical attack on the United States without fear of nuclear retaliation?
The naivete is stunning.

Former Saddam Hussein deputy captured in Iraq
Former Saddam Hussein deputy and the most wanted fugitive in Iraq has been captured in a special operation on al-Qaeda in Iraq, Sify News information agency said.
Former vice president of Iraq under Saddam Hussein’s regime and deputy chairman of the Baath party’s Revolutionary Command Council, Izzat Ibrahim al-Douri, was arrested in a joint raid held by the Iraqi and U.S. troops.
He was one of the most influential figures in the former regime and is believed to head an armed wing of the party in Iraq. Indian Hindustantimes news paper said that al-Douri was one of Iraq’s most wanted insurgent leaders, with a $10 million bounty on his head.
Iraqi media said al-Douri was found in a cave in Hamrin mountain, near the al-Qaeda in Mesopotamia “headquarters.”

Soldiers confiscated “important” documents and maps in the headquarters indicating the locations of other Al Qaeda hiding places and detailing sources of support from neighbouring Arab countries for the movement of suicide bombers and weapons into Iraq.
The paper’s source said the documents showed that Al Qaeda’s plans to recruit Iraqi suicide bombers to target “sensitive areas” in neighbouring countries had been successful.

It’s good news if true.
I couldn’t find any American source confirmation this morning.
I’ll check tonight.
You are welcome.
Former Saddam Hussein deputy captured in Iraq<<<
The news came from Russia, do you suppose they had a hand in turning him in?
It won’t be covered much by the U.S. media, shows that
President Bush was right in taking out saddam.
Would love to read the papers found there.
Did OBL release another tape?
I see comments on it and can’t decide if it is new or one of the old ones.
That’s a lot of gangs, but I do believe I see a pattern.
Let’s hope it’s true this time.
From what I can gather, the Russian report is based on the Hindustan Times report. Cindy’s right that so far there are no other confirmations. I guess we wait and see.
I haven’t seen any mention of a new UBL tape - maybe it’s an old one that you’re seeing?
Authorities in Afghanistan fear schoolgirls targeted in gas attack after more than 80 fall ill
More than 80 girls have fallen mysteriously ill in northern Afghanistan and authorities fear extremists may have poisoned them to keep them away from school.
Kunduz provincial spokesman Mahbobullah Sayedi blamed the illnesses on “enemies” who oppose education for girls. Girls were banned from going to school in most of Afghanistan before the Taliban government was overthrown in 2001.

OBL’s November 2002 tape, reads as tho written today and appears to have been sent around again.
Long and detailed version above link.
Thats a lot of gangs, but I do believe I see a pattern.<<<
Which pattern did you find?
LOL, so do I, dope/nazi/mexicans.
The nazi attempted several trips into Arizona and California during WW2 and the Yuma Sand Dunes are said to hide an entire german convoy that got stuck in the sand, while attempting to invade us.
LOL, that’s exactly the pattern. ;-)

Iranian nuke scientist seeks asylum in Israel
A senior Iranian nuclear scientist sought political asylum in Israel, Deputy Minister Ayoob Kara said Saturday.
Kara refused to reveal the scientist’s identity and exact role, and also the identity of the mediator who helped him contact Israeli authorities.
Speaking at a panel in Ramat Gan, the deputy minister said the scientist is currently staying in a “friendly country” and that he turned to a Jewish former resident of Iran for assistance. The Jewish female turned to Kara himself, he said.

Abduction of former Pakistani ISI officials raises questions

Colonel Imam
Colonel Imam
By IAN ALLEN | intelNews.org |
Questions are being raised about the reported abduction of two well-known veterans of Pakistans Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) directorate, who appear to have been kidnapped by an unknown group in Pakistans remote tribal regions. The two are Khalid Khawaja and Sultan Amir Tarar, a.k.a. Colonel Imam. Khawaja, a retired ISI officer, was a critical mediator between the CIA and Osama bin Laden in the 1980s, during the al-Qaedas war against the Soviets in Afghanistan. Colonel Imam, also a former intelligence officer and a diplomat, was the ISI handler of Taliban leader Mullah Mohammad Omar in the 1980s and early 1990s. Both Khawaja and Imam are considered senior members of the ISIs old guard, who have strong ideological sympathies for both al-Qaeda and the Taliban, and frequently voice support for the latter. Last February, Colonel Imam called on the US to strive for a political settlement with the Taliban, by directly negotiating with Mullah Omar. The two were apparently abducted in March, while accompanying British-Pakistani film producer Asad Qureshi on a documentary tour of Pakistans Waziristan province. A few days ago, a video was emailed to Pakistani media by an unknown group calling itself Asian Tigers, showing Qureshi, Khawaja, and Colonel Imam, and calling for the release of imprisoned Taliban commanders Mullah Abdul Kabir, Mullah Mansoor Dadullah, and Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar. Ironically, both Imam and Khawaja have publicly campaigned for Baradars release, a fact which raises questions among some observers about the authenticity of the video showing the alleged abductees.

Home Briefing Room Statements & Releases
The White House
Office of the Press Secretary
For Immediate Release April 23, 2010
Statement by the Press Secretary on the Three American Hikers Detained in Iran
The United States remains deeply concerned by the case of three American hikers, Shane Bauer, Josh Fattal, and Sarah Shourd, who have been detained in Iran without charge or access to legal representation since July 2009. While we welcome the decision by the Iranian authorities to allow Shane, Sarah and Josh to receive another Swiss consular visit at long last, we were deeply alarmed to learn from the families today of their physical and emotional state of health. We fear their well-being will suffer even more unless their case is resolved without delay. We strongly believe these urgent developments are additional reasons for the government of Iran to release them immediately.
These three innocent Americans have been in detention in Iran for almost nine months without formal charges or access to legal representation as stipulated in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. There is absolutely no justification for their detention, and they should be released without further delay.
As always, we urgently call on the Islamic Republic of Iran to resolve the cases of all missing and detained American citizens in Iran, including Robert Levinson who has been missing in Iran since March 2007.
THX FOR THE PING.
