Dubbed "The Punisher," Alexei Volkov takes a zero-tolerance approach to being cut off while driving his bus on Russia's roads. Day or night, rain, snow or shine, whenever an errant driver gets in his way, Volkov rams his bus into the offending vehicle without apology -- and records it all on his dashboard camera. The bus driver then documents the collisions by posting the video footage on YouTube.

Sadly, at least two bus drivers in Iowa had to learn the hard way that street racing school buses with elementary school children on board "is never a good idea," losing their jobs in the process. According to reports, one driver decided to pass the one in front on a snowy day in February while schlepping the kids back from a Valentine's Day activity. The kids cheered, for a little while at least, until they realized that the other driver wasn't slowing down to let their bus overtake. According to school officials, the bus driver who attempted the errant pass...

MIDLAND CITY, AL - As an Alabama standoff and hostage drama marked a sixth day Sunday, more details emerged about the suspect at the center, with neighbors and officials painting a picture of an isolated man estranged from his family. The driver, 66-year-old Charles Albert Poland Jr., was buried Sunday. Dykes, described as a loner who...

Stepping aboard a school bus will soon be the same as taking a seat in class for some students in the North Kansas City schools. In January, the district will begin wiring four school buses that are used for longer trips with Wi-Fi access. It’s believed to be the first such effort locally. The innovative move is just one more example of how local districts are adapting to keep up with technology and use it for the benefit of students. “We are living in a digital age,” said Eric Sipes, information technology executive director for the district. “We are at...

The Christmas season’s consumer spending and gift-giving frenzy all evolved from the story of Jesus’ birth, which, according to St. Luke, began with Mary and Joseph traveling to Bethlehem to register so they could pay their taxes: “[T]here went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed .“(Luke 2:1) A financial transaction tax is one way that lawmakers could solve the dilemma of how to raise revenues to serve the common good, perhaps following the example of another cast of characters at the nativity scene: the three wise men. Obviously our world is significantly larger than the...

It's a punishment as old as mankind: shame. It was a scene typical of the times in Israel. On a Be'er Sheva bus carrying mostly elderly Jews, an Arab boy began singing out loud in a way that seemed calculated to convey his disdain for his fellow passengers. Repeated attempts by passengers and the driver to get the boy to pipe down only resulted in more disruption, as the boy was joined by another, younger boy, in their annoying song. Push came to shove, shove came to kick, and the boys were taken off the bus, which drove away – but not before the boys had thrown a...

With a black baseball cap pulled tight over a mop of stringy long hair and a patchy, close-cropped beard, Mehdi-Muhammed Ghezali looked more like a Metallica roadie than a disciple of Ayman al-Zawahiri. He addressed the scrum of reporters in a clipped, heavily accented Swedish and accused the American government of wrongly detaining him for three years and "physically and mentally" torturing him. A book about his experiences was in the works; a documentary crew, cobbling together a film about American human rights abuses, had requested an audience; and his legal team was plotting a lawsuit against Donald Rumsfeld. Concealed carry on the St. Louis light rail system, MetroLink, is not only prohibited but a felony. Moreover, as noted in the comments in my post on concealed carry at the NRA Annual Meeting, carry on buses is specifically prohibited. Things may be changing on this. Missouri Rep. Ed Schieffer (D-Troy) has introduced a bill, HB 1483, which would forbid any local government from prohibiting concealed carry on trains or public buses. The relevant section of his bill states: 3. No political subdivision of this state shall prohibit a person with a valid concealed carry endorsement from carrying a concealed...
