The price of a ride on city subways and buses jumped more than 5% to $2.90 on Sunday, slapping another strain on many of the system’s millions of daily riders.
The fare hike, which also includes the MTA’s Metro North and LIRR rail rides, came two weeks after tolls went up on the state agency’s bridges and tunnels.

What are they complaining about? The price includes the possibility of being severely beaten and/or stabbed. Thus attaining true victimhood.

Compare to regular vehicle commuters in flyover land - That’s a gallon and a half of gasoline. Plus insurance and maintenance on a vehicle. I feel no sympathy.
I bet that ticket is highly subsidized by taxpayers.
You gotta pay more to cover all the turnstyle jumpers who ride for free, the same people who have made your commute so “enriching” that you no longer dare open up your MacBook and try to get some work done during the ride.

Pay more to get mugged or killed by someone who didn’t pay the fare and who you have been supporting through your taxes.
In the SF Bay Area, the subway is really free for young blacks - they all jump over the turnstiles and don't use tickets. I feel bad for those NYC folks, but they voted for Democrats and reap what they sow.
Government spending never decreases. Now it’s exacerbated locally due to the prior influx of covid money from the feds becoming the new baseline.
Well, anyone who hasn’t escaped and is still stuck in New York City who voted for this madness needs to live with it.
NY Subway is cheap compared to London Underground. Also, in NY you can go anywhere for that fare, in London fare depends on destination.
