Sorry Michael Steele,Political Analyst Charlie Cook Says If Trends Continue House Will Become GOP
The Lid/National Journal ^ | 1/8/10 | Sammy Benoit

Come November, Senate Democrats' 60-vote supermajority is toast. It is difficult, if not impossible, to see how Democrats could lose the Senate this year. But they have a 50-50 chance of ending up with fewer than 55 seats in the next Congress...Charlie Cook National Journal

Speaking to Fox News host Sean Hannity Monday night, RNC Chairman shocked many republicans by saying the Democrats' current 79-seat advantage in the chamber is too big a hurdle to overcome.

"We are beginning to do assessments on the individual races, but I think overall, given what this administration's proclivities are, we are going to see nice pick ups in the House," he said.

When he was asked directly if the GOP had a shot at taking over the House, Steele responded: "Not this year.

I am not sure if Steele was trying to downplay expectations or really feels that way but either way, that was not a great motivational speech for the party.

Charlie Cook, the acclaimed political analyst disagrees with the RNC Chairman. Cook is publisher of The Cook Political Report newsletter, which publishes analysis of the primaries and general elections for federal political offices and state governorships. The Report's predictions are accorded high credibility among journalists and politicians.

Cook's column in the National Journal predicts that if trends continue, the GOP will take over the house in 2010.

At best, Steels is an idiot.
At worst, he is in the pay of George Soros.
The guy has already proved that he is a far more concerned with making money and filling his own pockets(book tours, paid speeches, etc) than in running the RNC or winning the 2010 elections.
Anyone who encourages this buffoon by buying his book, should be ashamed of themselves.

“everyone” seems to want Steele out, but who do “they” want to replace him?

It is fine to call for an ouster, but recommend who should be his replacement.

According to figures I have seen, if the president’s approval is <50%, the average midterm loss for his party in the House is 54 seats. That’s about double the 20-something number we keep hearing from the treasonmedia.

Dump Steele—put in any clown. There is a former Governor of Alaska not working on much these days? Cheney would be good—or even his wife. What about Jon Voit? What is Connie Rice doing these days? Even Rudy could do a better job—heck even Rush Limbaugh would be better—but he wouldn’t take a pay cut.

I'm not the biggest Steele fan in the world, but I heard him amending that "can't take the House this year" remark on another show. He said something to the effect that yes, it is possible for the GOP to do so, but that the necessary candidates and party infrastructure are not in place quite yet, that they are still working on it.

So I suppose anyone interested in running for Congress this year as a Republican should give Steele a call?

My take is that Steele shouldn't be on a book promotion tour when working on getting Republicans elected in 2010 should be his top priority.

I think it’s ridiculous for the head of the RNC to be out hawking a book when he SHOULD be managing the mess he’s made of the finances at the RNC AND recruiting conservatives to run in November.

There are two other factors to consider.

1. What the Dems know that we don't: Universal Voter Registration

Soros Eyes Secretaries

Wholeheartedly agree, except of course the possibility exists that he really doesn't do anything but serve as public interface and scapegoat. :') Thanks justiceseeker93.

Any clown — So you would rather have Obama as head of the RNC. When it comes to “any clown” he is at the head of the list.
