A group of paleontologists discovered a large, well-preserved pterosaur on a rocky beach off the coast of Scotland. Boasting roughly an 8-foot wingspan, the ancient reptile is the largest of its kind to be found from the Jurassic Period.
The animal’s existence was a chance find made in 2017, when paleontologist Amelia Penney stumbled across the creature’s head while photographing dinosaur footprints on a rocky beach on the Isle of Skye. The pterosaur was promptly sawed out of the rock (with a couple pauses to deal with the tides, which threatened to wash away the fossil) and exhaustively studied; the results of the analysis were published this week in Current Biology.
Larger pterosaurs than Dearc sgiathanach have been found before; the biggest currently known is the North American Quetzalcoatlus, a 12-foot-tall behemoth with a 40-foot wingspan, making it the largest flying animal ever known.

Forty-foot wings, death from above!

Back in the old days I think they called ‘em dragons.
Has it been vaxxed? Is it wearing a mask? Asking for a friend.... :0)
It wasn’t vaxxed. That is why it is dead.
I thought it was from smoking.
A day or two ago, I was walking the dog and spotted a large hawk with a still-twitching squirrel pinned down to the ground. The hawk was enjoying breakfast. I can easily imagine a pterosaur going after a human.
Was it the legendary kiltosaurus?
Somehow, I find that difficult to believe that with a plaint that has such a high survival rate absent a plethora of comorbidities thrown up by a willing MSM and complicit government..
There’s a new word-phrase about. It’s called “all-cause deaths” with respect to the rushed trials and approval and Pfizer/FDA fraud..
I watched an immature eagle doing the same yesterday. It was working on what had been a bird. Feathers were everywhere. Something else carried the carcass off, but the eagle came back looking for it later. What a sight! Very glad the dinosaurs are gone, too.
No, the white man had not yet introduced them to the evil tobacco at that time.
My kin left the Highlands six generations back, but we still have a Clan tartan, that is very similar to our red green black white, and yellow tartan.
They could have used a flock of them at the Battle of Culloden! About a dozen with my surname are listed as KIA.
“Has it been vaxxed? Is it wearing a mask? Asking for a friend”
You should tell your friend they should quit thinking about shots and masks and get on with life.
People in my state watch other areas of the country that are just now “coming out of lockdowns” and “getting back to normal” and we shake our heads in disbelief.
Live life as intended....it’s great revenge
Better put a jacket on that rascal STAT!
Or, it WAS vaxxed that’s why it’s dead.
William Wallace! You get down here NOW!
