The system's regents voted not to make any name changes, more than a year after they established a committee to study that issue.
"History can teach us important lessons, lessons that if understood and applied make Georgia and its people stronger," the regents said in a statement unanimously adopted by the board at a specially called meeting.

My kudos to Georgia State University. Finally an institution with balls!
I’m going to send them a note of support.
Hopefully others in this forum will do the same, because the woke hyenas are going to do everything in their substantial power to destroy whoever had the courage to make this decision.
They need to know that they have a lot of support for their decision.
They looked at the $$$,$$$,$$$ x 75 it would cost. They chose wisely.
Most big public institutions care mainly about two things: Profits, and Liabilities.
Those can be very different, regionally or as the wind blows.
Next comes BLM’s “March to the Sea”. Burn Atlanta and Savannah and everything in between. FBI to protect rioters.
I doubt its because they have balls. More likely they know which side their alumni donors are buttered on.
The University System of Georgia Board of Regents are appointed by the governor AND there is a 2019 State law that prohibits renaming state buildings, institutions aimed at rewriting history....
The don’t want to burn Democrat strongholds.
Taking into account that most alumni solicitations are made invoking the Tradition and Excellence of the institution in question, at least this place decided to keep the Tradition part of it.
See another recent thread about destroying the Excellence part of it.
Good.
