You can say what you want about Florida, but you never hear of anyone retiring and moving north.
These are actual ads seen in ''The Villages'' Florida newspaper.
Who says seniors don't have a sense of humour
FOXY LADY
Sexy, fashion-conscious blue-haired beauty, 80's, slim, 5'4' (used to be 5'6'), Searching for sharp-looking, sharp-dressing companion. Matching white shoes and belt a plus. ------------------------------ ----------------------
LONG-TERM COMMITMENT Recent widow who has just buried fourth husband, Looking for someone to round out a six-unit plot. Dizziness, fainting, shortness of breath, not a problem. ------------------------------ ----------------------
SERENITY NOW I am into solitude, long walks, sunrises, the ocean, yoga, and meditation. If you are the silent type, let's get together, take our hearing aids out and enjoy quiet times. ------------------------------ ----------------------
WINNING SMILE Active grandmother with original teeth seeking a dedicated flosser to share rare steaks, corn on the cob and caramel candy. ------------------------------ ----------------------
BEATLES OR STONES I still like to rock, still like to cruise in my Camaro on Saturday nights and still like to play the guitar. If you were a groovy chick, or are now a groovy hen, let's get together and listen to my eight-track tapes.
------------------------------ ----------------------
MEMORIES I can usually remember Monday through Thursday. If you can remember Friday, Saturday and Sunday, let's put our two heads together. ------------------------------ ----------------------
My favorite
MINT CONDITION Male, 1932 model, high mileage, good condition, some hair, many new parts including hip, knee, cornea, valves. Isn't in running condition, but walks well.
AND FINALLY
A lady in the Villages in Florida (a senior retirement community), was sitting on a bench, near another bench with a gentleman sitting on the bench. She asked him if he was new to the community and he said "no, I have owned a condo here for 20 years". She then said "I have been here for 15 years and I have never seen you around!". He then said "I have been in prison for the last 17 years!". She was stunned and finally asked him what he had done. He said that he had murdered his first wife! She was stunned again and after a long pause she said.
So you're SINGLE??? ------------------------------

Some Kind of Heaven - Official Trailer

America’s seniors have discovered the fountain of youth. It’s in The Villages, FL. With #SomeKindOfHeaven, first-time feature director Lance Oppenheim cracks the manicured facade of The Villages, America’s largest retirement community – a massive, self-contained utopia located in Central Florida. Behind the gates of this palm tree-lined fantasyland, SOME KIND OF HEAVEN invests in the dreams and desires of a small group of Villages residents – and one interloper – who are unable to find happiness within the community’s pre-packaged paradise. With strikingly composed cinematography, this candy-coloured documentary offers a tender and surreal look at the never-ending quest for finding meaning and love in life’s final act.

Certainly can't afford that but thanks for the advice........
I have a friend who lives in one in Texas. She is so happy there. 10 years so far
I remember my mother - years ago - smiling at an old lady (with her walker beside her bar stool) flirting with men at the bar... Mom said, "only in Florida"...and that was decades before 'the Villages'...
Surprised that I haven’t seen a Helen Thomas photo on this thread
We are going for several weeks in March with 2 other couples. Rented a beautiful 3 bedroom house on golf course. Came to $550 per couple per week. The Villages has a wide range of options from older double wides to executive homes and now they’ve added a hotel on the lake. It is a fun place.
Surprisingly, a fast growing demographic for std’s...
Captain Obvious to the courtesy phone please. And who cares if she is spreading uh... happiness.
I am a senior freeper and a resident of The Villages. STD rumours are false (I think). Lots of drinkers here with a golfing addiction!
Actually... my son and I were taking a train vacation once, and sat down with a woman at dinner. She told us that she spent her professional life in Florida. She was in the process of moving to Michigan after retiring.
It was definitely one of those "You're doing it wrong" moments.
The Villages is anything but cheap.
Much better for you than being a golfer with a drinking problem!
