Researchers are calling on the Irish Government to change recommendations for vitamin D supplements after a study revealed it is likely to reduce serious coronavirus complications.
A new publication from Trinity College Dublin highlights the association between vitamin D levels and mortality from Covid-19.
Dr Eamon Laird and Professor Rose Anne Kenny from the universitys School of Medicine carried out the work with the Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing (TILDA), in collaboration with Professor Jon Rhodes at the University of Liverpool.
The authors analysed all European adult population studies, completed since 1999, which measured vitamin D and compared vitamin D and death rates from Covid-19.
Vitamin D is produced in the skin from UVB sunlight exposure and is transported to the liver and then the kidney where it is changed into an active hormone that increases calcium transport from food in the gut and ensures calcium is adequate to keep the skeleton strong and free of osteoporosis.
The study found that vitamin D can also support the immune system through a number of immune pathways involved in fighting SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19.
The study shows that countries at lower latitude and typically sunny countries, such as Spain and northern Italy, had low concentrations of vitamin D and high rates of vitamin D deficiency.

I routinely supplement anywhere from 2000 to 5000 IU daily. Had an endocrinologist tell me that most people need the 5000 daily to avoid chronic disease.
Also, let yourself get out into the sun once a day, and do it before you slather on the sunscreen.

Study reveals that vitamin D likely to reduce serious Coronavirus complications, which is probably a prime reason that Shelter and Cower inside does not work!
Sheltering and cowering in place/inside can kill you and your loved ones!:
Heather Mac Donald, the Thomas W. Smith Fellow at the Manhattan Institute, writing in the Hill:
On Wednesday, Cuomo announced the shocking news that 84 percent of all hospital admissions were either people sheltering at home or nursing home residents. He shouldnt have been surprised. The risk of coronavirus infection occurs overwhelmingly indoors. Researchers in China identified only one outdoor outbreak of infection among over a thousand cases studied.
Most transmissions occurred at home, rendering the close-down-all-businesses-and-shelter-in-place rule contraindicated.

Probably should get another bottle soon before they go in the way of TP..I was just able to buy a big pack of TP at our local Fred Meyer (Kroger brand). The whole aisle was stocked, but with all the same type. I bought it because we need to keep stocked, and also just for the novelty of actually buying TP. Last time we did was at Costco back in March, after waiting in line for 30 minutes.

SC: nice list of Vitamin articles, thanks. You will not that a lot report good results, and then a few say not needed, don’t bother. Big Pharma will never get/stay rich if people discover how they can enhance their health reduce illness by finding the right dose of whatever. My 6’1” son was told by his doctor to use D3, 5000IU for his winter depression. It is working. I have seen reported that D affects 2000 gene regulated systems out of our 20,000 genes. Sounds pretty important. My mother suffered severe varicose veins, ultimately veins stripped at age 45. At age 32, my veins started to show red and hurt after my first child was born. Made a point of keeping feet elevated after 8 pm. Then discovered Adelle Davis’s books. Started 400IU vitamin E, and 2000 mg. vitamin c. In one month, veins started to fade and could stand up until midnight with NO leg pain. At age 81 I still take 400 IU of E, 3 to 6 grams of C, 5000IU of D among a bunch of others. About 3 years ago I realized I was developing cataracts. I added several nutrients to my daily supplements, and now have a 50% improvement in glare vision. By the way, early sign of Covid is loss of taste and smell. Sign of Zinc deficiency is loss of taste and smell. See Dr. Zelenko’s protocol for early treatment of Covid. Why don’t Trump and Fauci ever mention that zinc must be used with HCQ to really do the job? Are they both carrying Big Pharma’s water, or has Trump been tricked? https://internetprotocol.co/hype-news/2020/04/14/a-detailed-coronavirus-treatment-plan-from-dr-zelenko/

If we can find a strong correlation between getting correct amounts of Vitamin D and zinc during the winter months, we're going to have a run on multivitamin pills and cod-liver oil supplements starting in August 2020. 🙄
