Out of pure curiosity I tuned into the Miss America 2.0 last night. Partly to see what this 2.0 stuff was all about and to confirm some of my thoughts.
I remember in the 70's and 80's before we had a million channels we use to look forward to watching the Miss America pageant and we'd cheer for Miss Kentucky or what ever state you were from. Back then it seemed that Miss Texas always won.
Let me inform you that the 2.0 is exactly what I thought it was. The 2.0 designates that the pageant has gone in a whole new "WOKE" direction. Which means that beauty, talent, and accomplishment doesn't count. Especially in the case of Miss Missouri. Ugh, Miss MO. was a chunk with no talent and no accomplishments. She was clearly an affirmative action, last seven finalist. But she did check a lot of "woke" boxes, mixed race, raised in a single mother house, dad ran off, and she was a "strong woman of color" even thought he mother was white, her black dead beat dad gets credit. A lot like obama.
The three judges/hosts who were asking questions asked the most "WOKE" questions. One black female host asked about "all those annoying boomers". Yes she actually said that and no one called her on it. The black gay guy was a one trick pony, in that every time he asked a question or opened his mouth had to do with LGBT politics. And of course most of the answers given by the contestants were about strong women or diversity or anything except boys or white, old people. None of the contestants disagreed with the premise of any of the questions.
Also in the past there was always an emphasis on America and Patriotism. But the little time that I watched I didn't see any patriotism.
The only exception that I saw to all of this wokeness was Miss Oklahoma who actually said that boys need to be encouraged to be leaders and supported. Miss OK and Miss GA were the prettiest and most talented. One of them should have won but didn't of course.
Besides being woke the new format stunk and the hosts/judges stunk as well. They weren't well spoken and they sounded like they were parroting democrat talking points. The whole thing was very boring.
It really doesn't matter who won because they've finally destroyed the Miss America pageant. It seems that "woke" actually does means you do go broke.
Had two older sisters, along with my mom, so we watch ALL the pagents back in the 80s.
I was a young kid, but I swear those things were 3 hours long! It was fun to wait for your state’s lady to appear.
And when Miss Michigan won (cant remember the year) the phone was rigging for 2 hours as aunts called my mom, and my sister’s friends called to celebrate.
Such simple silly fun.

Yes. It was entertaining fluff and never meant to be taken seriously.
Now, it is “woke” and all about “strong” women that we should all drool over for their minds.
Do a test: Collect a large group of young women in the summer into one place and see what they choose to put on parade. It won’t be their minds.

Ah...back when SNL was actually funny...maybe it was all the cocaine or something...or maybe that we hadn’t descended into clown world yet...
Battle of the Nework Stars. Always thought it was pretty silly...but did tune in once or twice...As for Miss America...not always watched, but it was a pretty big deal back in the day...It was entertainment that sort of united the nation in that we all shared pretty common values...now everything is all fragmented.

SNL weaponized humor and made itself non-funny. More and more, to the present day unwatchableness it is.
Its all waste of time fantasy crap. If everyone knew the crap going on behind the scenes by the runners of this tripe you’d not ever want to tune in for that reason as well.
Gretchen Carlson, she of the ‘Roger Ailes is a predator’ fame, decreed that the Miss America contestants would no longer compete in ‘swimsuits’. Maybe they meant pretty swimsuits. Carlson has ruined the Miss America Pageant. I wish for her an unhappy existence as she is destroying our culture.
I did not watch the show, but I heard about a contestant who is a Christian and (based on her past comments) a Republican. I suspect some other contestants also might be Republicans.
But I didn’t hear their answers to questions. And they’re not parading around in bikinis, so the men here still wouldn’t be happy.
Whether the show is a beauty pageant or a scholarship competition makes no difference to me.

My personal choice, “Kaitlyn” Jenner, lost. Damn! Bette Midler’s brain outclassed the field, including my guy...I mean my gal Kaitlyn.
It’s a very lucky thing for the competition that Betty Friedan passed away before the votes were tallied.
