Former President Obama says that while there are some aspects of being commander in chief he misses, he doesn’t pine for the “hoopla” that comes with the job. “There’s nothing that compares to the privilege and the honor of serving the American people in the highest office in the land,” Obama told Al Roker when asked Wednesday how life had changed since he left office in 2017. The 44th president appeared on NBC’s “Today” show to promote his new Netflix series, “Our Great National Parks.”

As I listen to the soft music and watch the scenes shown on a channel of snowy vistas, forests, bubbling creeks and the beauty of sunlight gracing the countrysides, it would be of comfort if I were not terribly missing my little kitty. I know I've posted a picture and a history of Miss Krystal, and of her struggles and overcoming of later- year complications of arthritis, heart murmur and hyperthyroidism. She lived, literally lived and enjoyed, bring such a sweet hope and light of what one of God's Creations can bring into a person's life--and not only my, but...

Despite Meghan McCain calling her return to “The View” after maternity leave a “rough re-entry,” she is glad to be back. “I will say, I missed everyone,” the host shared on “Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen” on Monday. “Even if some people didn’t miss me, I missed the show. We’re a family.” McCain, 36, continued, “All these women were at my dad’s funeral, we’ve been through a lot of s—t together, and I missed being on this show.”

Out of pure curiosity I tuned into the Miss America 2.0 last night. Partly to see what this 2.0 stuff was all about and to confirm some of my thoughts. I remember in the 70's and 80's before we had a million channels we use to look forward to watching the Miss America pageant and we'd cheer for Miss Kentucky or what ever state you were from. Back then it seemed that Miss Texas always won. Let me inform you that the 2.0 is exactly what I thought it was. The 2.0 designates that the pageant has gone in a...

I used to shrug off the feminists who made a big deal about the swimsuit competition in pageants being sexist; I believed my mentors in the pageant world that, like in body-building competitions, swimsuits just allowed contestants to show off their inner confidence and judges to assess our physical fitness. But after participating in pageants, I’ve realized that the idea that the swimsuit segment is just about fitness is completely false: It’s about whether or not you fit a certain, antiquated ideal of the “perfect woman.” So, hearing the news that Miss America will forgo the swimsuit competition, I shed...

The dramatic police shootout in San Francisco was caught on camera. Authorities in San Francisco released body camera videos on Tuesday of a dramatic shootout in which police officers fired their weapons at least 65 times in 15 seconds at a murder suspect. The San Francisco Police Department said the shooting happened on Feb. 17 in the city's Mission Bay neighborhood when officers confronted 31-year-old homicide suspect Joel Armstrong inside an RV at a homeless encampment. Armstrong allegedly shot two men the day before during a carjacking in the city's Panhandle neighborhood, killing one of them. Body camera footage released...

When Mississippi shocked the college football world and signed the No. 7 recruiting class in the nation in February 2013, it didn't pass the smell test for a lot of people in and around the sport. Three years later, we can say with reasonable certainty that their noses did not deceive them. There was a questionable odor coming from Oxford then, and it is lingering over Hugh Freeze's program to this day.

Trump has re-engineered the political landscape. Fret among patriots is leaving the building. Hit pieces are now being rightly impuned as contrived, weak and stupid. Laughter breaks out as dim witted groupthinkers in the MSM stuggle to obey editor demands. Editors stuggle to fulfill the production demands of their political overlords. Lawyers pretending to be objective on air journalists can't get the kill shot off. In fact, the sidewinders turn back on them with a vengence. Trump has turned the hit piece into the "miss piece".

Hillary Clinton is constantly having to hold these defensive press conferences when she's trying to explain away some vaguely shady shortcut she's taken, or decision she has made, but Obama has not had to do that. He and his wife have not only displayed superior integrity themselves, they have mostly attracted and hired people with high personal standards. ~snip~ He's exuded this basic care and respect for the dignity of others time and time again. Let's put it this way: Imagine if Barack and Michelle Obama joined the board of a charity you're involved in. You'd be happy to have...

A common misconnection that exists today rests on the notion that there are no racial hierarchies in Latin American countries or within the Latino communities in the United States. (SNIP) The shooting of unarmed African-American teenager Trayvon Martin by a half-Peruvian and half-White man named George Zimmerman, the rise of so-called Hispanic conservatives like Ted Cruz, Al Cardenas and Marco Rubio, and the examples of racist comments by Latinos in the media like Rodner Figueroa, have made it impossible to have a conversation of Latinos and race. (SNIP) This Saturday, the Miss Puerto Rico winner for the Miss America pageant...

The Miss USA beauty pageant briefly turned ugly over Arizona's tough new immigration law. Miss Oklahoma Morgan Elizabeth Woolard finished first runner-up to winner Rima Fakih of Michigan, and conspiracy theorists are grumbling that her support of SB 1070 may have cost her the crown in a repeat of last year's Carrie Prejean controversy. When "The Office" star Oscar Nunez posed Miss Oklahoma a question about where she stood on Arizona's SB 1070 Sunday night, the crowd erupted in boos over the intrusion of politics, Fox News reported.

The IDF is investigating a kidnap threat left on the Facebook page of Mor Maman, the current Miss Israel. The scare came after she posted a photo of herself after her first week in the army. Her photo was shared by an Arab youth on Facebook, who tagged her and included the threat in an Arabic caption, “the next kidnapping target.” She initially ignored the share until she arrived home for the weekend and told her family what had happened. “…they said ‘it’s serious,’ and that I’d have to report the incident immediately,” she said. “I immediately understood that...

Mark Mayfield, 58, was vice chairman of the Mississippi Tea Party and a Central Mississippi Tea Party chairperson, according to those organizations' websites. "This is a terrible tragedy that shouldn’t have happened," Mayfield's lawyer John Reeves told Reuters. Mayfield was one of three men accused last month of conspiring with a blogger who was charged with taking photos of Cochran's bedridden wife in...

Former Rep. George Nethercutt, who pulled off his own dramatic unlikely Congressional victory 20 years ago unseating Speaker of the House Tom Foley, of Spokane, said Tuesday he could see parallels between his experience and that of David Brat. “It’s a message, as I look at it, to all members of the House: You’ve got to pay attention to what people at home are saying,” Nethercutt said. (SNIP) McMorris Rodgers has three opponents in the August primary: Republican Tom Horne, Democrat Joe Pakootas and Independent Dave Wilson. The two candidates with the most votes will face-off in November.
