Britney Spears has checked into a psychiatric facility after suffering from emotional distress, a source confirms to Variety.
The 37 year-old singer was admitted over a week ago, as first reported by TMZ, and is expected to remain in treatment for a month.
Spears has been troubled over the past year by her father’s health crisis. Jamie Spears recently underwent a second surgery to fix a ruptured colon.
In November, the “…Baby, One More Time” pop star put her Las Vegas residency on hold to look after her dad. She wrote on Instagram: “A couple of months ago, my father was hospitalized and almost died. We’re all so grateful that he came out of it alive, but he still has a long road ahead of him. I had to make the difficult decision to put my full focus and energy on my family at this time.”
Spears’ mental issues date back to 2007 when the pop star infamously shaved her head and attacked the paparazzi with an umbrella. She later checked into the psych ward at UCLA’s Medical Center.
Considering her music borders on the satanic these days, I’m surprised this hasn’t happened sooner.
She is torn between living the life of a young, attractive celebrity and her core belief to follow the Christian Way.
Other entertainment celebrities have faced such, she should reach out to them.

It’s easier to deal with a mental illness when you realize there is no fix. You just have to learn to deal with it. Hopefully in her case, going to treatment is dealing with it

Depression. I never took the drugs because I’ve never seen anyone walk back from it.
That was from years ago. She has been relatively sane for the past several years. At least she is getting help this time.

I would not look good in harsh lights either. It’s also well documented that Spears is an abuser of substances, and if she doesn’t stop she is going to die.

She has gotten her act together over the past ten years. She’s kept a low profile and done her show in Vegas. Everyone is capable of redemption.

It's not like its a secret in Hollywood that she has these problems.
I hope she gets better in rehab. She denies the stint is for substance addiction - her statement was that she "needed more me time."
