Video of Los Angeles 1940s - LA Noire?
Posted on 10/14/2018 1:02:31 PM PDT by Jamestown1630
Someone recently posted a link to a YouTube video of film from 1940s Los Angeles - it was a night time drive through the city, in color, featuring music from the composers who did the soundtrack to LA Noire.
I've tried my best to find this again - even bookmarked what I thought was the video, but it's not.
Does anyone recall this and have a link?

I wonder what the neighborhoods from the video look like today.

We were just saying that back then, in most cities there was a little shop for everything - tobacco, leather goods, mens’ suits, shoes, books. Malls killed that; and the Internet is killing the malls.
I don’t know LA, but if the neighborhood is good, it’s probably all sleek metal and glass now, and not nearly as interesting.

All I can think of upon seeing this posting is how much I hated the movie Chinatown. 131 minutes of my life that I will never get back.

Noteworthy is the amount of trash on the streets.

The other day I was reading some article that claimed that Dunkin Donuts and Mister Donut, both Boston area chaids founded in the 1950s, started the use of changing the spelling of doughnut to donut. And yet at 1:32 in this film from 1946 L.A. there is the Mayflower Donut shop.
Moral: take articles you read, even on unimportant topics, with a grain of salt.

There is a ton of litter along the curbs. Look again.

Yeah, I notice one corner.
I wish it were slower so you could see more detail.

Agreed. It sucked. Why some people rave about it baffles me.

Watch again. Many scenes showed trash in the streets.
