Scientists uncover 20 genes linked to being transgender (tr)

Scientists have uncovered 20 genes linked to being transgender – supporting claims that the condition has a physical basis.

Researchers believe the gene variations may contribute to people identifying with the opposite sex.

Critics of transgender identity say the condition is ‘all in the mind’, and transgender people have a psychological problem rather than a medical one. But by highlighting genetic mutations that affect brain development, the latest findings point towards transgender identity having a physical basis.

IF it’s a genetic thingy, and I’m not saying it is, but IF it is, it can be CURED with GENE REPLACEMENT THERAPY...................Much cheaper than sexual reassignment surgery........................

You are on it. Male is male, no matter how the individual expresses it.

There might be genes that are sensitive to the cause of gender dysphoria. Cause might be plastics in the environment, say, and one person might be more affected by the amount of plastics in his uterine environment than another by virtue of his genetic makeup.

But “transgender” can’t be genetic. It’s a concept. Males feeling like females is one thing but it doesn’t change their maleness.

We know that there is a genetic locus correlated to a higher risk of depression, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.
A genetic link simply means we’ve found another genetic correlation with a mental disorder.
That doesn’t mean the delusions are valid.

You give them grant money and tell them what to look for and they’ll find it every time.

Junk science....simply look at nature: both transgender and homosexuality are ABNORMALITIES, not the norm!

Yes, mental illness sometimes has a physical basis. Also, the desperate desire for attention can have a physical basis. That physical basis does not in any way mean that a deluded boy is really a girl, a puppy, or a firetruck, no matter how firmly he asserts that identity.

How convenient that they suddenly found “genes” to support whacking off genitalia and injecting oneself with hormones. I don’t believe a bit of it.

Yea... sure. Cans find one gay gene in 100 years but find 20 of these in a few years...

Color me skeptical as hell

1.7% of all people born have some form of both male and female genitalia. These are your typical effeminate males and bull dyke females.

I'm pretty sure that's not true.

My certain guess is that the "links" are more incidental than anything, and won't stand up to even the most casual scientific scrutiny. Like the "gay genes," they are chromosomal characteristics which might indicate a sexual predilection, but which are found in many normal people as well.

Isn’t that the truth! Just like eggs and pork, whoever pays for the study gets the result they were looking for!
