CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago has been ranked the number one city in the world by Time Out magazine's City Life Index.
It is the second year in a row that Chicago tops the list. The index measures 32 cities based on a survey of 15,000 people. Cities were scored by food, drink, culture, friendliness, affordability, happiness and livability.
Time Out gave Chicago top marks for food and drink and also scored well for happiness, culture, affordability and city and neighborhood pride.
Top 10: 1. Chicago 2. Porto 3. New York
4. Melbourne 5. London 6. Madrid 7. Manchester 8. Lisbon
9. Philadelphia 10 Barcelona
"This year's Time Out City Life Index reveals the urban hotspots that are unbeatable right now, and the detailed results provide a fascinating look at how people make the most of city life in 2018. Chicago, Porto, NYC, Melbourne and London are this year's top five-a list that shows how different, diverse and unique great cities can be. They really should be on everyone's travel bucket list for this year, along with many other cities in our global ranking," said TimeOut citylife editor James Manning.

Other than that, Chicago is a very nice city. It really is.
Unless you happen to drive a car that you might want to park.
And not pay an arm and leg.
And the taxes on everything...
Chicago does have assets; obviously, the crooked Democrap machine isn't one of them. But it's always had that.
When I was growing up there in the '50s and '60s--even in the '70s and into the '80s--I would agree. I loved living in Chicago! It had everything you could possibly want. And in my neighborhood on the north side of the city, there was no crime. I mean, zero, none.
Now it's not the same. It's not the Chicago of my youth. I still try to get back up there at least once or twice a year, and Chicago will always be my hometown and have a special place in my heart, but it's not the same.
Depends what part of the city you're talking about. Ya gotta know your neighborhoods. Most of Chicago is still safe. The violence is concentrated in certain neighborhoods.
You are correct, sir.
I hear ya! I loved growing up there. I used to think, Why would anyone want to live anywhere else?
Unfortunately, a big chunk of the north side, where I grew up, has been overrun by the homos.
Especially the big three: the Italian beef sandwich, the deep-dish pizza, and the Chicago hot dog. Yum, yum, yum!
The north side was great until the '90s.
Breaks my heart. I can’t even go back to my grandparents’ graves. Evergreen Park, south side.
My big three; Chicago Chop House, Shaws, and DeFriscos. ;-)
Del Friscos
LOL
Have these people visited Chicago and seen the crime and violence?????
Is time out magazine a recruiting magazine for thugs, gangs and scofflaws?
LOL, yeah, ...NO.
I grew up there until age 13, leaving in 1952. First near North Avenue and Cleveland Avenue, then on Wayne Avenue, within walking distance of Wrigley Field. The latter neighborhood has become gentrified, with the old single-family houses torn down for luxury condos. The old neighborhoods have been subject to successive waves of various ethnic and socio-economic groups.
