It was a wonderful city in which to grow up. Midwestern friendliness everywhere. Good schools in my day. Parks kept immaculately clean with wondrous views of a lake that was so different in all weather. Museums that were the pride of the world. Old Town and restaurants that I havent found the like of since. I hear ya! I loved growing up there. I used to think, Why would anyone want to live anywhere else?

Breaks my heart. I can’t even go back to my grandparents’ graves. Evergreen Park, south side.
